Is the benefit of no full respecs worth its costs in lost players?

I used to think like OP but after awhile I find the respeccing requirements not too bad, especially if you read up some guides and while orb of regrets are not abundant, will drop enough for a couple of major respecs.

Players who easily get bored with one build or constantly want to try out different things will prefer hassle free respecs but I do think that will trivialize careful leveling and building towards a specific character.

We have tons of char slots for a reason and no one who plays endgame can tell me its more fun than grind. It is a grind. Sure not everyone likes the run up to high lvls when starting fresh either but thats i would argue at least giving rewards while the endgame is only farming orbs and trading and farming more orbs for more trading for better gear and better farming. So endgame is a endless farm fest until someone reaches lvl 100. And then what? Bored of the game and done?

We get enough respec too, free ones, orb of regret are not expensive either.
I think one full respec for new players, for their first character would be fair.
Hf :)
More games need learning curves. Letting you fix every mistake Diablo 3 style results in players not having to learn anything, and that just creates boredom. It isn't supposed to be easy, if you want easy play Diablo 3.

I don't really get it either, once you get some leveling gear and know how to speed through the earlier part of the game you can get a character decently leveled in a few hours, almost always less than the time it would take for you to collect a bunch of regret orbs. During that time you'll have more currency to turn into regret orbs if there's a character you really don't want to redo.

Maybe I'd accept adding some expensive way to have 1 full respec once a month or something, and have the option disabled for a while whenever GGG gives us a respec because of a big update.

I think its fine here and a good example is also Witcher 3 where you can buy respec potions ingame for 1k gold which isnt little, especially early on. So endgame makes respeccing easier. I think similar could be done in POE i guess so endgame gets some sort of increase to refund points we can get, like a quest that gives like 10 or 20 at once or something.
Losing players over a few chaos worth of respec points?

What is the OP thinking.
Multi-Demi Winner
Very Good Kisser
Alt-Art Alpha’s Howl Winner
Former Dominus Multiboxer
I personally like the way they handle respecs in this game. I think if you could respec your character whenever you want, as many times as you want, for free, that would just be ridiculous.

If people are really quitting the game because of this, then.. good riddance? There is always D3 for those who want an easier time.

Hmm, well lets see

The game has continued to grow in players (both accounts and retention of players)
Guess people like that their choice means something

look up the differences between correlation and causation and get back to me. The game could have grown even faster if there were ways to unlock full respecs (not a bunch of regrets). the most hardcore of players don't care about respec points.

Im sorry this is bullshit , Many many many of us left d3 or were unhappy with it because you only need 1 wizard etc and the builds are boring and the choices mean nothing. PoE is a good game because decisions matter and would not benefit greatly from free respecs , obviously this isn't the right kind of game for you but please move on to a watered down game instead of trying to ruin this one if you need easy mode in life.
