Weekend of Races!

Really? Spent a bunch of time on races over the weekend. Hit level 10 a bunch of times and missed it a couple. Was sure I understood how prizes worked. I even did a google search to be sure. Came across a thread talking about earlier racing leagues where people could get multiple prizes in a single race if they started more than one account in the race and leveled each of them to the level required. Winning multiple prizes in a single race isn't allowed anymore.

So today, after the race weekend, I read comments saying that you could only get ONE Stormcaller Mystery Box for the entire weekend no matter how many races you ran. Uhhhh... Really? Totally baffled by this interpretation of the words in the announcement. Sounds like I wasted many hours over the weekend that I wouldn't have if the wording was clear.

"By reaching level 10 in any race you will be awarded a Stormcaller Mystery Box [SMB]. This applies only once per account. Multiple level 10 characters will not grant multiple mystery boxes. If you're participating in a race that starts at a higher level, you would need to get 10 levels above the starting level to be awarded a mystery box. For example, if the race starts at level 28, you'll need to get level 38."

My breakdown of the wording...

"
By reaching level 10 in any race you will be awarded a SMB.

So for that "race" (singular), you can only get one SMB. Got it. "Any" [single] race. It doesn't say in any races (plural). It doesn't say one SMB total for all races for the entire weekend. It says "in any race" (singular). That first statement of that paragraph is then the base assumption for the rest of the paragraph.

"
This applies only once per account.

Right... for that race, you can only get one SMB.

"
Multiple level 10 characters will not grant multiple mystery boxes.

Right... Multiple level 10 characters in that race will only grant one SMB.

So that sounds very clear to me. You get one SMB (maximum) for any race you reach level 10 (or 10+ levels from starting level). No prizes for the cutthroat races.

What am I missing?

"By reaching level 10 in any race you will be awarded a Stormcaller Mystery Box. This applies only once per account. Multiple level 10 characters will not grant multiple mystery boxes. Yeah. Can see how you could interpret it that way now. Disappointed that I didn't understand for the weekend though. Wording was vague enough to have me do a google search. Seeing the issues with earlier race seasons where people were "exploiting" (within the rules) multiple prizes in a single race... I thought I understood what they meant.

My interpretation was reasonable and was different than the intent of GGG. Silly really, but the fun of the weekend for me was chasing the SMB prizes for each race even though they had so little value they weren't worth my time. I knew there was zero chance that I was going to win the prizes that would require me to be in the top 300 of any given race. Without believing that I was going to get the SMB prizes, I would have only done the BLAMT races.

Races were fun, but big let down on the prizes. Don't like spending money on MTX, but willing to work for them in game. Prefer buying stash tabs and such as a way to support the game.

I'm guessing I was not the only one who didn't understand so I'm bringing it up and speaking out for those of us who are disappointed.

I'll add too a reference to a sentence in the first paragraph of the announcement... "We're also giving out a free Stormcaller Mystery Box to every player who reaches level 10 in a single race!". Again, could be interpreted more than one way. Knowing what they meant now, I can see why GGG thought they were being clear.

GGG... the language is still vague. Possible addition to clarify...
You will receive a maximum of one SMB for the entire weekend no matter how many races you participate in.

Anyone else disappointed after misunderstanding the wording?

Cheers!
It seems like they made an effort to make the wording extra clear, but I see how there is a sliver of possibility for misinterpretation.

Consider the practicality of what you're suggesting... potentially giving away 31 mystery boxes to individuals who participated in every race except cutthroat, for reaching level 10, which is not a significant achievement. That's $93 worth of boxes. I think the single 'thanks for coming out' mystery box per account is quite generous. Any more would be silly and water down the actual rewards for ranking high.

And to GGG, thanks for the races. This is my first time participating but I found the variations quite fun and look forward to a points-based racing league.
I still haven't received my mystery box :/

In the same boat...
Same thing, got to 20 in an endless ledge but no box yet. Last time took a while to get boxes out too.
