No, life flasks are fine (use passives, affixes to improve them), problem is imbalanced game that´s it.

They are not supposed to save you from all situations in the first place obviously.

More than life flasks being bad, current utility flasks are just too strong.
And the problem with keeping the secondary effect for the whole duration is that life flask duration goes up until 8 sec, which is huge.
SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.
Would be kind of cool if they added a new tier of flasks. I also wish they wouldn't just stop working if you hit max health. Especially since one shots are the all the rave these days. Being able to restore 900 life instantly isn't very great when your dead.

They could add unique traits to some of the life notables. Instead of just getting a boost to life recovery, give an addition modifier when a life flask is in use. It could even become its own form of defense if these notables became solid. Maybe juggernaut gives additional damage reduction under life flask use. Herbalism can give extra % life regen. Profane chemistry can give something with flasks. Maybe add new clusters around the board. So if you go through several of these life flask notables, you get some pretty sick life flasks running.

They could actually do a lot with life flasks. Not really sure why they have been in the state they have been for awhile.

Also they could add a set of flask nodes on the top side of the tree for some conversion of your life flask to es flask... just because I think that would be pretty cool. Even though ES is better atm, I still think giving ES more options would be alright. Makes the game more interesting.

The problem with adding new clusters is that you make new pretty mandatory clusters for life builds that ES build don't need to take, digging a little bit more the gap between life and ES.

And I sure hope that base flask that give ES back will never, ever, ever, ever exist.
ES is already too much like "blue life" imho.
