[3.5] Demi's PURE STRENGTH Righteous Fire Chieftain! SUPER BUDGET (TO START) ALL CONTENT

IF YOU PLAY ONE OF MY BUILDS, PLEASE SHOWCASE YOUR CHARACTER'S GEAR IN THIS THREAD FOR OTHERS TO SEE AND LEARN FROM <3

If you have any questions about the build, check the guide or read a few pages of questions and answers. I also have a FAQ in the second post. Most likely it's already been answered by myself or someone else. If you still can't find it, join my Discord and ask in the Help Desk channel or come visit me on stream.

Please do not PM me ingame with build guide questions.

3.5 BETRAYAL CHANGES:

Ruby Flasks (and other ele flasks) were changed from 6% maximum resistances to -20% damage taken of that element. It's a slight tone down, but we never needed the flask to regen a shitload anyways. It just unlocked more overall.!

Guide to make any build budget: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ru1egx98ad0

CORE ITEMS:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DO YOU LIKE BURNING EVERYTHING AROUND YOU? DO YOU LIKE BEING ABLE TO OUT REGEN ALMOST EVERY TYPE OF DPS? ARE YOU SUPER POOR? DO YOU OCCASIONALLY LIKE TO AFK IN THE MIDDLE OF A MAP? DO YOU WANT MORE THAN 9K LIFE WITHOUT WEARING A KAOM'S HEART?

THEN THIS BUILD IS FOR YOU!

Q: What is Righteous Fire?
A: RF is a skill that lights you on fire, giving you more spell damage and burning you for a ton of fire damage per second, while also burning everything else around you in an AoE!

http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Righteous_Fire

Q: Why the fuck would I use that?
A: BECAUSE IT'S AWESOME AND THEMATIC. The self-damage can be mitigated entirely via Skill Tree/Gearing, so you just get to enjoy a large amount of BURNING EVERYTHING while just being tickled by the heat.

Q: How did you get so much fucking life?
A. MAX LIFE ROLLS ON EVERYTHING, MAX STRENGTH ROLLS ON EVERYTHING, ALL THE LIFE ON TREE AND JEWELS THAT WE CAN GET
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bandits + Pantheons:
Spoiler
Points or Oak. I take Oak personally.
As for Pantheons, you can take whatever you want. They can be hotswapped so just test whichever you like most.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Leveling Guide + Skill Trees:

Spoiler
I leveled with Cleave until I got Firestorm, which I used until I learned about Cast When Channeling + Scorching Ray. I got a 4 link with Scorching Ray, Cast When Channeling, Firestorm, and Fire Penetration and it carried me through Cruel/Merciless/Labyrinth. Amazingly strong and much lower mana costs than Firestorm/Echo.

The new Incinerate seems pretty solid as well. Incinerate + Controlled Destruction + Cast While Channeling Flame Surge is interesting for single target.

You can also level as a Melee character with Fire Skills like Molten Strike. I prefer to go tanky caster.

Suggested Uniques: Goldrim, Wanderlust, Tabula Rasa, Axiom Perpetums/Lifesprings
Random other stuff: Minus Mana Cost Elreon Jewelry, extra Quicksilver Flasks.

Try to cap your Elemental Resists by act 5-6 and get as much life on gear as possible. Any rare item you wear should have at least some life or resists, ideally both. Follow the "Other Gear Stat Priorities" section down below for those non-unique slots.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gem Links:
Spoiler

This differ slightly from the minmax pastebin up top ^ seeing as most players won't be able to get that tier of gear.

4 Link: BBBR
(Vaal) Righteous Fire, Elemental Focus, Increased Area of Effect (Concentrated Effect for bosses),Increased Burning Damage

IF you can get an elder helm, go for Supported By Burning Damage/Conc Effect/Essence of Horror. This allows you to use Arcane Surge + Swift Affliction instead of those 2 links. Arcane Surge adds a hidden "duration" tag to RF, allowing Swift Affliction to work. This is highest DPS setup.

Another option is Elder Helmet with Essence of Horror, Burning, Conc, and 4 Blue. RF, Ele Focus, Efficacy, Inc Area for more quality of life.

3 link: RRR IN DOON CUBIYARI:
Cast When Damage Taken (as high as you can get), Molten Shell (as high as your CWDT will support), Life Leech, Iron Will (from Doon itself)

4 Link: RGRR
Shield Charge, Faster Attacks, Fortify, Brutality

4 Link: RRRB
Cast When Damage Taken (as high as you can get), Summon Holy Relic (as high as your CWDT will support), Immortal Call (as high as your CWDT will support), Stone Golem (as high as your CWDT will support)

3 Link: RRR
Purity of Fire, Vitality, Enduring Cry

4-5 Link: RBBB (B)
Cast When Damage Taken (Level 1), Ball Lightning (level 4), Curse on Hit (as high as you can get), Flammability (as high as you can get). If you can get the extra blue socket, Orb of Storms will allow you to manually cast a spell that also curses for EE/EO. If you don't level Flammability past the level that CWDT is trying to cast, it will not do anything. A super low level CWDT means that the Ball Lightning will spam all the time, and you gain the benefits of a high level Flammability for max DPS. #strats

1 Link: B
Scorching Ray (HIGH LEVEL) (Only used on bosses for the - Fire Resistance debuff.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Required Gear/Level:
Spoiler

REQUIRES LEVEL 65 to use. This allows us to sustain RF through max fire res.

Our main source of generic damage for RF and everything else. Use only if you have > 800 Strength.

Use this until you break 800 Strength.

If you can't afford either Doon or Doryani's, just use a Sceptre with Increased Elemental/Fire damage/Burning Damage/Damage over Time on it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other Gear Stat Priorities:
Spoiler

Helmet:

To start out with, a basic rare with life/resists/strength is fine. Eventually you'll want to aim for an Elder helmet that has Socketed Gems are Supported By Concentrated Effect OR Burning Damage. That will allow you to create a pseudo 5 link helmet setup. Then you can go for 2 of those mods. Later on, you can even go for Essence of Horror for 30% More Elemental Damage for your helmet, and Conc/Burning Damage for a perfect 6 link + 30% more helmet. Quite juicy for our Righteous Fire setup. A perfect DPS Elder Helmet would be 99 + 33 Life, Level 20 Conc Effect, Level 20 Burning Damage, 55 Strength, and 30% More Elemental Damage Essence.

Gloves:

If you can't afford/access/craft an Elder helmet, you can also just use an Essence of Delirium pair of gloves. That will gain you 30% More Damage Over Time in your glove links for Righteous Fire. Same stat priorities as your helmet though. Life, resists, strength, dex if you need. Attack speed is nice as well but not required at all. Perfect gloves would be something like 89 + 33 Life, 55 Strength, 48 Resist, 55 Dexterity or something along those lines.

Chest:

To start out with, a rare chest with ES/Armour as a base (to make for easier socket coloring) will do. Aim for life/resists/strength again. If you can afford to buy and recolor a Belly of the Beast, go for it. If not, aim for a life/% max life chest either from Elder mods or Incursion, with as much strength and resists as you can get. Any additional defensive mods like Physical Damage Taken As Fire/Cold/Lightning is great. % Life regen/% Strength are hugely beneficial as well. A perfect Elder chest would be 129 + 38 Life, 12% Maximum Life, 55 Strength, 12% Increased Strength, and 2% Life Regenerated per Second.

Boots:

Pretty basic stuff here. You'll want a rare with life/movement speed, resists and strength. Noticing a trend here yet? Perfect would be 89 + 28 Life, 35% Movement Speed, 55 Strength, 48/48 Resistances.

Rings:

Rare rings with as much life/resists/strength and other stats are great. Aim for Corals if you want more life, or Opals if you want more dps. Or if you need resists, the basic ele res rings/two stones are fine. A perfect ring would be 79 Life, 20% Armour, 47 Energy Shield (little bit of extra dps), 55 Strength, 48% Resist or 16% All Resists.

Amulet:

You'll want to aim for a rare with extremely high life/strength and whatever else you can get. Marble amulets have % life regen implicits, and Elder amulets can have % life regen as a suffix. Get the best one you can afford. A perfect Elder Marble Amulet would be 89 Life, 51 ES, 20% Armour, 55 Strength, 2% Life Regen, and 35 All Attributes.

Belt:

Start out with a basic rare that has high life/resists/strength. Leather belts or Stygians are great. Eventually you'll want to aim for an Elder belt that has up to 20% Life Recovery Rate as a suffix. That is a more multiplier for our overall life regen, and does not show up in your defense tooltip (it will show up in Path of Building correctly). A "perfect" Elder belt would be something like 99 Life, 10% Maximum Life, 5% crafted Movement Speed, 60 Strength, 20% Life Recovery Rate, and 12% Increased Strength, on a Stygian Base. That belt will never exist, as you cannot get i85 Elder Stygians, but there are some coming very close. I'm working on one myself :).

Shield:

You'll be aiming for a Rise of the Phoenix with as much life as possible.

Weapon:

If you have <800 Strength, go for a Doryani's Catalyst, prioritizing the up to 100% elemental damage mod and the attack speed rolls. Once you can break 800 Strength, swap to a Doon Cubiyari and prioritize the Strength roll.

Hope that helps clear up any confusion with gearing questions.

MinMaxed #Standart Gear:
Spoiler

Be warned, this gear has a lot of incorrect links. Ignore the gems, just look at the gear.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stats without Flasks:

With Flasks:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My Preferred Flasks:
Spoiler

Word of advice, flasks are more of a preference than anything else. The only ones I would make sure you have are some form of a Ruby Flask in order to utilize more of your passive life regen by going above our maximum Fire Resist, and a remove Bleed flask to deal with Puncture/Corrupting Blood.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TOOLTIP WARRIORS ENJOY:
Spoiler

RF DPS IS NOT SHOWN INGAME ANYWHERE. So suck on that tooltippers!
If you kill fast enough for your liking, then you're doing fine!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Best in Slot Enchantments:
Spoiler

Gloves: Of Light (Drops Consecrated Ground for 6% life regen when you take a crit)
Boots: 2% Life + Mana Regen if you've been hit recently (past 4 seconds)
Helm: 40% Righteous Fire Damage

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Best in Slot Essence Crafts:
Spoiler

If you can get a 30% More Elemental Damage (Essence of Horror) crafted Helmet, or a 30% More Damage Over Time (Essence of Delirium) pair of gloves for your Righteous Fire 4 Link, that's a huge boost to our damage.

Increased Fire or Elemental Damage on your Rings/Amulet also can scale our RF/Molten Shell damage.

Burning Ground boots are pretty awesome as well, if you can get enough life/res/movespeed out of them. They scale off our fire/area damage, so that's a nice boost to dps while also looking cool as fuck.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jewels:
Spoiler

Word of advice: Get whatever stats you are lacking first. These are just a guideline.

Stat Priority:
1. Life
2. Burning Damage
3. Fire Damage
4. Damage/Damage Over Time/Area Damage
5. Strength/Resists/other stats if you need/want them.

Abyss Jewels:

1. Life
2. % Life Regeneration While Moving
3. % Chance to Gain Onslaught on Kill
4. Critical Strike Chance If You Haven't Crit Recently

General Mapping Advice:
Spoiler

Annoying/hard map mods:
- Maximum Player Resistances
Cursed with Elemental Weakness
Players have Less Recovery of Life and Mana

I've successfully done all of these mods with my setups with single mods.
I don't recommend running more than one of these at the same time.

Impossible mods:
No regen. (fuck that)

FAQ

Spoiler

1. Why do we use Elemental Equilibirum? Won't RF/SR/Molten give everything 25% fire resistance?

Spoiler
Righteous Fire/Scorching Ray are both degeneration effects, which means it never "hits" to proc EE on enemies. That also means you can't leech off degens.

Molten Shell does give fire res momentarily, but it also only triggers when you take massive damage and is used to leech you back to full.
We use other lower level CWDT spells to trigger EE on enemies for negative fire res.

2. I can't sustain RF with Rise of the Phoenix, what am I doing wrong?

Spoiler
You probably don't have enough life regen or a high enough level Purity of Fire, or some mixture of both. RF burns us for 90% of our maximum life per second, which is then mitigated by our Fire Resist. So for example, if you managed to get 90% fire res and 10% max life regeneration per second, you would be able to activate RF and not lose any life. My build aims for way more regen than 10%, so we overkill on the regen and can heal ourselves passively with RF active.
Wiki links:

3. Are Marble Amulets good?

Spoiler
Yes. Best in Slot amulet, the only reason I didn't use one before was because they didn't exist :).

4. Essence Helm for "socketed gems deal 30% more Elemental damage." OR Essence Gloves with 30% More damage over time.

Spoiler
Best in slot for a pseudo 5 link RF setup. Definitely use it if you have access to one.

5. Is Ngamahu Tiki, Coral Amulet a good option?

Spoiler
It gives you a good amount of increased fire damage, but very little life and not much in the way of stats/resists. I'd rather use a well rolled Marble amulet or a stupid high life amulet in general, with 40+ Strength.

6. Doon Cubiyari or Doryani's Catalyst??

Spoiler
Doon is better once you break 800+ strength, as it would give 32% + 100% damage, which is the same as a perfectly rolled Doryani's. If you are <800, use Doryani's.

7. Can I use "insert any chest armour" instead of a rare?

Spoiler
Yes. It doesn't matter what you use, all preference. (i prefer rares with life/str/res)

8. I don't have as much life as you, can you tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Spoiler
My screenshots are on a level 92 character with all the life/jewel nodes on tree. Life/Str across most of my gear as well. Expect to grow into similar numbers once you hit similar levels of gear and skill points.

9. Is Xoph's Amulet good for this build?

Spoiler
No. Avatar of Fire means all of our attacks/spells will interact shittily with Ele Equilibrium. The fire damage will give everything we touch 25% fire resistance instead of -50% like we want, thus hurting our damage output.

Plus we get covered in ash for free now with chieftain yeet

10. KAOM'S HEART?!

Spoiler
No. The point of this build is to minmax your strength to get more life than a Kaom's RF build would have, while having more damage and links to play with.

11. Why don't you use Controlled Destruction, Less Duration, Rapid Decay, Hypothermia, Fire Pen, Empower, etc with RF?

Spoiler
RF mechanics. It is not a spell, and it doesn't hit. It's a degeneration effect. Less Duration/Rapid Decay also only work with Duration skill gems, which RF is not (unless you link Arcane Surge). Not hitting also means we cannot leech from our degens.

EDIT TIMELINE:

12/01/16:(mostly) UPDATED FOR BREACH LEAGUE

Mercy Mission:
Spoiler
Make sure you get the Medicine Chest and get the Quicksilver Flask for your quest reward, as it will help boost your movespeed, and in turn your clear speed.

Breaking some Eggs:
Spoiler
After smashing some nests, go ahead and grab Ancestral Protector. He'll be your bro totem for a while and help you do DPS with your smashing hits as you keep progressing, as well as being a good distraction.

Optional, gives extra exp/loot/respec points.

Dweller of the Deep:
Spoiler
Smash the shell of the Deep Dweller, obtain your skill point in town. Put it towards your skill tree and move on!

Spoiler
Kill Alira, kill Kraityn. Help Oak for the +40 max life.

Sharp and Cruel:
Spoiler
Beat down the spider, get her spike. Take Iron Will for the quest reward, add it to your Firestorm link for more damage. Grab Cast When Damage Taken and keep it level 1 for now. We'll link it to Warlord's Mark later.

The Root of the Problem:

Act 3:
Spoiler

Lost in Love:
Spoiler
Save Clarissa from her weird gang bang bondage situation, take Warlord's Mark for your reward. We can use this soon with Blasphemy to help us sustain Firestorm and get some life leech on top, but until then, link it to your level 1 Cast When Damage Taken. Don't level Warlord's Mark past level 5, or it will be too high to trigger from the CWDT.

The Ribbon Spool:

Find Dialla in the Solaris Temple level 2. Give her the Spool and the Sulphite. She'll give you some flammable cocaine. Use it to burn the poop blockage in the Warehouse Sewers.

A Swig of Hope:
Spoiler
Optional. Gives 3 rare rings as a choice. Take Coral for that possible sexy life/resists.

A Fixture of Fate:
Spoiler
Lots of goodies here. Help Siosa find the lost pages of his diary, then grab Blood Magic/Fire Penetration for our Firestorm links. We also get Blasphemy finally for our Warlord's Mark and start leveling both, and Increased Burning Damage for our Searing Bond totem. Spoiler

Breaking the Seal:
Spoiler
Find Voll in Dried Lake and murder him, along with his creepy "family." Get Immortal Call and link it to your level 1 Cast When Damage Taken. Level them up together as you go. Grab a Stone Golem for those links a well. Just make sure that the CWDT can actually cast both spells.

An Indomitable Spirit:
Spoiler
Free Deshret from the Mines, get a skill point. Easy.

Kill Kaom first if you have higher Fire Resistance than Cold.

The King of Desire:
Spoiler
Kill Dareso if you have higher Cold Resistance than Fire.

Corpus Malachus:
Spoiler
Kill Piety and head into Malachai's entrails. Kill the three guardians cause they smell.

The Labyrinth:
Spoiler
Now is the time to test your mettle. After doing your 6 Trials of Ascendancy, enter. With Firestorm and Searing Bond, Stone Golem and Immortal Call, we should be able to clear normal Labyrinth relatively easily. Bring a friend if you're scared. Enchant some nice gloves, and grab Ngamahu, Flame's Advance for some dps and life regen.

The Eternal Nightmare:
Spoiler

Hi,

Im thinking of leveling into this build as it looks fun. Can you explain why you took EE? It looks like you're only dealing fire damage, how does EE help there?

Good question! If you look at my Amulet, I have crafted "cold damage to attacks."

So every time I Cyclone or Shield Charge into a pack, I apply EE to all of them and give them -50% fire res :).

Hi!
Great build, trying it out myself. Just one question: What is the purpose of that level 7 cast when damage taken blade vortex? I can't figure it out.

Is rightewous fire higher damage or is blade vortex higher damage?

Also whats better for HC? duelist ( gladiator is uppose) or chieftain?

Sorry, I should have explained that in the post! Will edit for clarity.

The level 1 CWDT/Blade Vortex are for proc'ing Elemental Overload. Every time you take a small amount of damage, you get a stack of BV spinning around you. It hits fast enough and crits enough to keep Ele Overload up all the time while clearing packs :). (40% elemental damage for our RF/Molten/etc)

RF is definitely lower DPS than BV.

I'd personally play Chieftain just because of the insane lifepool/extra regen. Gladiator could be fun if you can manage to squeeze enough block nodes on the tree while still getting enough regen to keep RF sustained.
