Dear GGG,Leagues are dead after 1month, are there plans on making them last longer or its intended?

Just throwing some ideas about party play ( Very valid point from laycast here ) i'm sorry about the typos i'm in a hurry:

- Adding a public tab or a dedicated pannel to create parties / searching trought them / giving some options to party owners / and a title + description ( useful to show some rules ).
( will draw something later to show how it could be integrated into the game )

Explanations: I'm welcoming greatly initiative like global 820 don't make me wrong anyway it doesn't impact all players and only those who heard about it.
Each leagues i'm keep discovering that a lot of players never heard about it, i'm talking here about an option opened to every players directly built into the game instead of a community content.

- Adding some party goals and rewards.
Actualy playing in group doesn't feel rewarding enough i used to play domination / ambush and discovered only after that playing solo was way more fast / rewarding / and saving a lot of headache without mentioning waste of time due to general party management.
An alternative to that would be to add some " optional content " that can be played only in party. Thinking mostly about really challenging content where the reward is basicaly having a group proud of performances over getting rich with their run.

- Performances " issues ". Perf issues or /and network issues are not a new thing that impacted and hurted a lot party play. Thankfuly past years desync are gone, multithreading is almost there in a clean way / loading time are good and honestly it's impressive to see all the work that has been done !

I would like to mention that playing few hours with many skills tend to become impossible for me and a lot of players to follow.
We started prophecy in 5 man group with spells and it was impossible after three hours to keep focus on anything basicly the screen was just full of effects and i was feeling facing a wall of light instead of a computer screen.
Granted it was almost better than LSD at some points ;)
@GGG Do you have any plans regarding that ? Do you consider that as an issue that deserve to be investigated a bit more on the long run ?

Now on the league retention i think to make it work it clearly need to have social / and party play aspect reworked and improved a bit.
And of course some love for guilds !

Hope this thread is actualy going to become a dev manifesto or at least show some good ideas ! Keep it up !

Have a nice day,

Helio

Maybe it is because we are "seasoned" players that is why we get bored with the game quickly? Probably for first time players, it would be a steep learning curve?
I had one simple goal in Prophecy and it was to get a specific item:

After that I slowly started losing the will to play as prophecy isn't all that stimulating for progression.
Somehow Perandus kept me hooked longer.
Maybe it was the casino aspect.
Leauges need something that holds players longer (or gives them better goals than just a boss).
I think its typical for the OP to start a post about some negative aspect. Its also typical for him to do it with no data and no chance of being proven wrong.

The statement is ''Leagues are dead after 1 month'' yet we are almost at the end of the third month of the league, and we've just had a race season which takes people out of the league.

There is nothing that anyone (including the OP) can do to either prove or disprove the assertion that the league is dead after a month. I found that the league was pretty much alive and kicking until the race season started (but I play in Standard) so I would argue with the OP that he is talking rubbish.

Other f2p games maintain retention by giving login and timed bonuses, timed events and other such shenanigans. Even D3 does this once in a while. I hope GGG doesn't do it.

Isn't that exactly what the race season does.
Is it even a problem??

Worst junkies will burn out no matter what GGG is doing, i just wish they would stop AFK'ing and fucking up trade system.

i would say it isn't a problem and it is working how GGG expect it to.

Some people race through content and burn out quickly, some take their time.

The OPS idea would 'punish' the people that take their time by making the game harder towards the end which makes it harder to complete their challenges, so could force them into rushing and being done with the league earlier, meanwhile the people that burn out quickly probably aren't going to be coming back for a few extra mods.

Prophecy has been the league that i gave up on the fastest and from what i heard, im not the only one, by a large margin

Strange, the town last night looked fairly crowded and the leftover maps and sacrifice fragments I put on sale pretty much vanished.

I'm thinking Prophecy actually might have the best retention of all the leagues so far. Now, not saying I wouldn't welcome the idea of evolving leagues but devs might feel less pressured to bother with something like that than we think.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

despite the catchy title, op is kind of right and i agree that gradually releasing some goodies would be the way to go.

as it currently is, missing the first few days or the first week of a league as a average, competitional player means the league is kind of done for you. getting whealthy in poe means ripping off other players by selling more mid game to early endgame items than you purchase and it's most effective in the first week.

top competitional players missing the beginning can still profit from the then available items and pass other players who may get stuck at a certain difficulty level.

gradually releasing stuff is a good idea for both types, i'm glad ggg just tries that with releasing the channeling skills later in the league.
age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
you can stop talking already about this topic

after 1 month still 50% of players are playing. i played yesterday and people still buy my stuff and trade. no clue what you are talking about
