(Bloodlust + Wildstrike) Mechanics?

Using bloodlust with wildstrike (assuming something else triggers the bleed) makes enemies hit with wildstrike take a lot more physical damage. I thought this would cause wildstrike's conversion to do a lot more damage as well but the elemental damage still seems insignificant...

For example if you did like 10000 physical damage, wildstrike would convert 60% of that to fire (1/3 chance) which is 6000 fire damage.

But if you had bloodlust with wildstrike, for argument sake lets say it's 50% inc physical damage then wildstrike would do 15000 physical damage (10000*1.5) meaning that a 1/3 chance converstion to fire would do 9000 damage, which is 30% more than it did before. That's a pretty big increase, but I fail to notice it.

Is that how it works?

First of all: Wild Strike's conversion is not listed on the tooltip.
Second: Bloodlust's bonus is not listed on the tooltip.
Third: Conversion occurs before Damage multipliers. Converted Damage benefits from modifiers to the source-type.

Wild Strike's Elemental damage from conversion will benefit from Physical Damage bonuses, but the elemental effects do not deal Melee Damage - as such, Bloodlust only applies to the Melee strike, not the explosion/etc.

Bloodlust will only augment the Melee Hit. A lot of people get confused and think that the Melee Hit is all physical while the randomized effect is purely converted damage. Not so. Both the Melee Hit and the extra hitting effect deal a mixture of Physical Damage and Damage of one Element (presuming, of course, that you are scaling physical).

Both the physical and elemental damage dealt by the Melee Hit should be boosted a lot. But the extra effects will gain zero bonus from Bloodlust (i.e. Frost wave, fire explosion, Lightning chains).

All of which is why it is impossible to properly support friggin' Wild Strike.

Too bad, really. It's such a cool idea for a skill, but there's just no decent way to scale it since it has practically every attack keyword in the game but each one only one-third of the time. Never been able to figure out any kind of prototype build idea for it that makes any blasted sense.

Right now I'm using bringer of rain with

wild strike - melee physical damage - faster attacks - blind- multistrike - bloodlust - fortify

Can anyone think of something to replace bloodlust with that would boost the elemental portion of the attack a lot? Just some way to scale it?

That would be Weapon Elemental Damage. Pretty much the only support gem in the entire game that scales every single one of Wild Strike's various modes.

Ok I'll give that a try. And what do you think the best one hander might be for wild strike? Right now I'm using Doryani's Catalyst Sceptre. It proves a lot of base physical damage which is scaled by my gladiator ascendancy shield talents and it also provides a bit of scaling 82% elemental dmg for the elemental portion of wild strike. Only affordable weapons that you can think of please.

Phys-to-Light and Weapon Elemental Damage are pretty much the best Damage-oriented Supports you can get; PTL finishes 100% Conversion, making WED extremely good. Elemental Focus if you don't mind losing Status ailments. Multistrike because it's Multistrike. Faster Attacks and Blind are fine. Added Fire is also fine.
Catalyst works. Otherwise, to the best of my knowledge there aren't really any standout uniques for a Wild Strike one-hander build. A decently rolled Tiger HOok or Infernal Axe, maybe? Possibly Dyadus, but Dyadus has really low physical damage so not much benefit from Wild Strike's various conversions. Tons of flat elemental damage, which works great for WED but not so great for Hatred or Added Fire Damage and such. I'd probably check into some moderate pDPS Tiger Hooks/Infernal Axes/whatever-you-feel-like before going for Dyadus.

Or just stick with the Catalyst. That works too.
