Why is GGG facilitating scripts/bots trading

Im primarily a seller, and i tend to list everything in either chaos or exalt value, as thats considered the standard orbs for trading, however i would say atleast 30-40 % of trades I make I take alternative orbs instead, alchs, scours, regrets, to around the same value. That cant be achieved in a set currency auction, and will only lead to inflation of chaos and exalt value as it would be the required "currency" for the auction.

in my opinion the suggestions you made would only damage the regular users, it would make trading fucking awkward, especially the limited purchases a day...

Also imagine the shitstorm it would cause to take trading away from the premium tabs.

The only thing an ingame auction would stamp out is where people list something on poe.trade at a low price with absolutely no intention of selling the item, just to lower the prices of new ones going on sale with the view to snap them up and flip when prices go back up.
People buying and selling challenges for real money on d2 jsp and you guys are worried about some lame scripts here lol .

We are worried about all of that. If we are talking about one thing here, it does not mean we are oblivious to all other transgressions.

While "rmt" in all shapes and forms is practically unavoidable with any system that has trade, the issue here is totally in GGG's power to rectify.

And to the people who simply write something along the lines " You want the items, someone was faster" or " you listed the item and now you wonder that there are buyers " ill give you the benefit of the doubt and consider you as a "weak" english speaker.

Try to comprehend what i wrote on the first page, and see where the issue lies.
Then, and only then, you might write something that actually contributes and does not look like a poor attempt at trolling or "shielding yourself because you feel called out".

For the odd comment about diablo and its AH failure, are we still pretending that AH was the issue and not the REAL MONEY TRADING that happened there? Auction House in WoW is a perfect example of how AH can facilitate trading in a good way.

But this tread is not for that purpose, i dont care about the merits of an AH here.
People are still using scripts and possibly bots to automate trade.

It is all fine, i am only encouraging discussion.

Cheers

Legitimate points made? Just turn to insulting your criticizers. Good job! No need for debate when you can use insults is there?

I can play this game too. Let's just assume you don't have common sense.

You complain that poe.trade is so much easier than trade chat. So if GGG implemented their own improved trading system in the future, what makes you think that it won't resemble poe.trade to a terrifying degree? Majority of people love poe.trade, they just hate that GGG didn't step up to the plate and make it themselves or implemented it sooner and took the work off the volunteer's hands.

Essentially in this day and age of the game, if GGG improves trading, it will probably look pretty damn similar to poe.trade, except there would probably be potential trade windows where a person will send it with a statement like "Hi wtb your xxxxxxxxxxxx for xxx chaos but I would prefer to pay xxxxx vaal orbs if you will accept." with a simple agree or disagree button with a yours and theirs windows of what is being bought/sold. You still have to do a ton of work plugging in your exact needed mods on gear and such in poe.trade that it isn't exactly "easy" and having that potential trade window have to have the seller respond to it in order to complete the trade would hopefully prevent that full on AH feeling that sellers simply need to list their items and buyers will do the work for them to have the currency automatically deposited into their currency tab.

Yes, GGG can do other things, but poe.trade is such a basis for our trading system right now that GGG would either have to implement it almost as is, or completely revolutionize what we expect from PoE trading. Otherwise, people would probably be absolutely lost on how to find the items they want in decent time. All I am imagining is if third party trading things were not currently or ever had been around. Can you imagine how painful scrolling through forum threads and trade chat would be just to find a unique item with good enough stats at a good price would be let alone rares? Pretty much how it would feel if GGG tried to completely side step a poe.trade like system and everyone would just return to poe.trade.

I love Poe.Trade. Most of those ideas you asked for to "combat bots" would hurt me. I'm not an extreme trader and I don't play often, but when I get on Poe.Trade I don't want to fuck around with stupid Captcha or have my searches limited to one every 10 seconds as I'm trying to price things or figure out what sacrifices I want to make on gear to get the best upgrade. Being limited to 20 items that I can sell is like asking me to only list 5% of my items, the rings alone are more than that.

This sounds like a non-issue. It sounds like someone's butthurt because someone else may be better at trading than them and they want everyone else to suffer.

Still did not comprehend what i wrote. There is no insult in what i said, anywhere.
I mention the automation and the 1 second 5+ guys spam as a sign of scripts and bots... but sure... go on a tangent and prove my point that you simply dont comprehend english language OR you deliberately confound the issue. Its in "black and white".. not something i use to insult you.

I wont answer to your points because they are derailing my thread. Start another one with "merits of poe trade vs capability of GGG to outmatch poexyz". Ill join in.

I USE poe trade, i dont mind poe trade.. read what i wrote earlier... just try reading it. You will find that we agree on these things, and that i mind the AUTOMATION PART + GGG saying they BAN AUTOMATION. Why is this so hard to comprehend?

They allowed this beast to exist, i am questioning their INTENT and their commitment to enforcing their own rules. Let alone the constant RIVER of data from their servers... dont know their backend but damn does it scare me.

TLDR.. Either you dont understand what i am saying or you are deliberately confusing the issue for god knows what ends.
setting up a trade bot to auto message players for buying items ... is botting. but it's outside of ggg's control so they can't do anything about it.

same goes for controling the amount of trades/searches per hour, interested people long invented software to make these calls available over multiple ip-addresses. no chance to limit that.

even integrating the trading functionality into the game won't allow for more control or enforcement of restrictions of any type as accounts are free.

it's a slippery slope down the path: the more trading functionality is implemented, the more the tech sawy people profit and the broad user base loses.

i really hope ggg comes up with something genious which destroys my fatalism in this matter.

age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

Keep the trade under GGGs roof, dont make any APIs available to anyone. Control gained, done by thousands of games with a trading system before.

As for the bots who would still be present in the game, that is the general plague and that fight is being fought constantly, or at least that is what GGG often proclaims.
