I actually really disliked the arctic race for this reason, i.e. randomly spawning crap that damages you even in areas that are cleared of monsters. It's too disruptive to multitasking, gaming while working, dealing with real life, or even multigaming. You can't always portal because portals are a scarce resource in races.
When you're old with responsibilities and real life happens, you leave your game. It doesn't matter if you're in the labyrinth, about to win a race, clearing a map, whatever. You go to town or exit to character selection and leave. At best, you can delay maybe 50 seconds before leaving. Games are always at the absolute bottom of the priority totem pole. Without a town to zone to, and if exiting to character selection dumps you out of the labyrinth, pause function would be amazing as a QoL feature, even if the race timer kept ticking. If pause is too problematic to code in, one alternative is to add safe zones to the labyrinth, i.e. area's where a player can stand without crap killing them. This can be done via an intermediate zone/room between labyrinth regions (like the walking area before zoning in to the brutus boss fight, but just a small room that the player could backtrack to if needed) or via pads that provide the zoning immunity buff when you stand on them. Of course, it would be trivial to pause if there was offline mode, with separate saves. You can expect me to take any opportunity to nag GGG about offline mode. :p Never underestimate what the mod community can do for PoE if you sell an offline client.

" This is a what now? --- @Vhlad: You hit the nail on the head. "Games are always at the absolute bottom of the priority totem pole"... exactly. So just quit. Come back and do the Labyrinth later, it'll be waiting for you. I'd kinda be surprised if there are no safe zones in the labyrinth. Having a moment of respite isn't just to help out people with more obligations than free time, it's important for pacing and mood. You've gotta have some ups to fully appreciate the downs, and all that. Last edited by pneuma#0134 on Feb 9, 2016, 4:05:30 PM

If you need to go AFK in the Labyrinth, I recommend standing close to some deadly traps.
Not too close, obviously, but somewhere nearby that's a little out of their way. Monsters aren't spawned in the middle of traps (since traps affect monsters) and the traps are likely to kill any monsters that wander close. Code warrior Last edited by Rhys#0000 on Feb 9, 2016, 8:03:59 PM

I'd like to know where the 60-minute labyrinth run came from. Is there data out on how long a run will take?
60 minutes does seem like a rather long time. I was hoping for something well under 30 minutes. |

I guess GGG in some way have thought about people with 32 bits and less than 4 gigabytes of RAM. Still exist who for some reason can NOT modernize and (for example) with just run 3 maps the game collapses... This problem has never been solved by GGG and the only solution to play in story mode is the constant use of the waypoints. This labyrinth will be no exception... I guess...
Please tell us that we can play. Tell us that we can continue to play at least with the habitual problems. Bethesda is known for having good ideas and terrible realization of them. GGG is a Bethesda subsidiary or what?
