[Discussion] Why is pornography censored?
" and responses like this only prove my point that wee need to protect children from themselves I wont get into the whole beer vs. weed argument as I agree it silly that one is legal while the other arguably less harmful drug is illegal but thats not what this is about. This isnt about "the man" holding you back. Thats a very immature way to look at this and only proves my point above you dont have the wisdom to comprehend it your still thinking like a teenager who think hes invincible and nothing can hurt him. You lack the wisdom and experience to know better, hence rules are put in place to protect you from yourselves. This isn't about fully grown adults making their own choices that's a completely different discussion. This is about why we place these rules on children and I believe I have explained that pretty well. |

you dont have to quote last post, especially since its a large one that only glog the focum.
BUT your logic is completely wrong, im not a teenager anymore(sadly), and i dont think there is anything in my life i cant comprehend since i lead pretty successful life by my measures. Its other way around dude, i got the inteligence and reason to see whats is good for me and what is not by myself. And this applies twice for what is good for my children. another example - in my country winter tires are just mandatory, it doesnt matter how hot or cold it is, from strict date you have to get winter tires. So this year it was 15+C and i still had to go and get winter tires, and guess what? they were flat in a week! my point is : sometimes rules are just plain stupid and everyone that follows em is exactly the same also i hope you talked in general, because you dont know a shit about me so plx dont even try to judge me or my behaviour to sum it up - I as a parent should consider what is and what is not good for my child, not some PEGI or whatever. " Why there are laws to teach and protect children? Shouldn't that be the job of the children's parents/tutors ? In this topic I'm only saying that stuff like pornography and drugs SHOULDN'T be made illegal by governments. That doesn't mean that there shouldn't be parents to raise and teach children what they think is good and bad. It's parent's duty to forbid their children of something, IT SHOULD NOT be up to the government to decide that with stupid laws. I'm in an abusive relationship with life. It keeps beating the hell out of me and I'm too cowardly to leave it.

" You said: " And then you went on to say that if you want something for your children, it will be so, and that you disobey many laws, leading to run-ins with law enforcement. That isn't specific to censorship. That isn't really even specific to prohibition or regulation of goods, either. Your post just says you don't like government forcing choices on people. And then you immediately follow up with demanding the government dictate who can have children, and when, and how they can be raised (hint: less food!). " And I'm stunned that you'd need it explained how somebody could read what you wrote at face value. I guess we're both stunlocked now, and will be forevermore. "Why are there laws against child abuse? (Answer: it's bad for the children and not all parents are good.) Heck, how do you plan on letting parents restrict minors' access to alcohol/porn/violent videogames/etc. if the minor can just go out and buy it behind their back? |

Your wannabe pro CSI explanation of my posts is full of asumptions and twisting of my words.
I never said i demand it, i never said it should be goverment and most importantly it was just a "wish" or a phraze to support my argument if you will, whatever lets just not talk about it. How do i prevent my children buying pornography and violent games behind my back? well thats easy, those things are pretty damn expensive these days arent they? tbc todays evening, shift over... must... sleep Last edited by species258 on Feb 17, 2013, 12:49:30 AM

" whatever the hell that means " So you wish for ideal worlds without actually wanting them to come true? Are they then truly ideal? You said it'd be best if blah blah sterile blah blah authority blah blah it's a problem that right now food is not regulated but teh pronz is. How is that not presenting the view that 'authority' should (since, after all, this is an ideal world, which we ought to aspire to) take action to emulate this ideal picture you've painted? Also, if not the government, then what authority? If they have power over reproduction, they're at least as powerful as any government today. " no, this is the internet "no, they aren't. also, your kids are drug dealers and they make hundreds a week. |

" Even with laws, minors still get access to alcohol/porn/violent videogames/drugs/etc so your point doesn't apply. It's the parent's duty to teach kids what is good and bad and raise them well. It shouldn't be the government dictating that stuff with some laws. Also, your point about bad parents doesn't apply either because that's why I said "parents/tutors". If parents are bad, kids are taken to good tutors or should. I'm in an abusive relationship with life. It keeps beating the hell out of me and I'm too cowardly to leave it.

" But not as readily. Unless you want to say that only laws which are 100% effective are allowed, in which case you'd have no laws whatsoever. "So it's the parents' duty, and only the parents', but when they fail (and they will), a unicorn pops out of the sky and delivers the kids to a 'tutor'? That sounds like an agent of the government, driven by laws about what constitutes a proper upbringing. |

" Yes, people know and everyone can have access to that knowledge. People are just too dumb, that's the problem. /offtopic I'm in an abusive relationship with life. It keeps beating the hell out of me and I'm too cowardly to leave it.

" I never said anything against laws in general and government entities. I only said that I'm against laws that forbids people from having or doing something that doesn't affect anyone else.
