I grew up pretty normally, meaning I found the dirty stuff when I was about 13-14. by that time, I already had "The talk" and sex ed from my school. And since I wasn't more or less restricted from most things sexual ( I usually had to close my eyes during movies where the more erotic scenes happened, but no more than that.

My point is, Kids shouldn't be exposed to more open forms of sex like pornography, before they know what is fantasy and reality/ acceptable between two people, and what is unacceptable/unappealing. Other than that, let kids be kids, and don't try to control their sexuality by shielding them forever and repressing them. Give them some measure of freedom and help them make the right decisions.

You asked a general question about why should someone be disallowed something and then answered it yourself. Maybe you should have started with this question.

This question, though, seems really odd in light of various facts:
1. Children imitate what they see. Should children participate in sexual activities when they don't understand what they're doing, or what the consequences are, or...?
2. Children are not adults. They do not have the mental capabilities of adults, nor do they have the experiences of adults. They can't handle the truth.
3. Pornography is unrealistic, but it is also often degrading, objectifying, etc.

There are more like this but this should be enough to get started.

If you saw daddy performing maxillofacial surgery on mommy with a hammer, you wouldn't get some odd ideas about what appropriate behaviors are in adult relationships? If you saw Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef in a shootout, you would play-lynch your neighbor for being a cattle rustler?
