Donald Trump

From where I stand, he looks closer to the "do even worse"-crew. In this rethorical scenario, his firewall is made of wood soaked in gasoline.

I admit I largely avoided the catwall, but I did get the feeling that the overall tone of your posts were closer to that of an observer than an endorser.

Here's an experiment budding political scientists can try on their own:

Ask if the subject is for the supposed Trump Wall (tm)

If for, ask how that will actually solve the problem?

If against, ask how they would actually solve the problem?

If they reply "I dunno" then they've given more thought to what socks they will be wearing than the actual issue.

As someone who has put a lot of thought into it: I dunno.

Building a wall is just not an option for people living in actual, I-Pay-My-Bills-Because-I-Understand-The-Consequences reality. The price tag is fucking enormous (estimates are between 200b and 1t), the benefit is fucking negligible (tunnels, ladders... dynamite), and the manpower to actually build the thing likely does not exist. To say the least, it's a gargantuan undertaking if you want the thing to actually do what it's supposed to do. Can't be tunneled under, can't be climbed over, can't be blasted through. Has to be very deep AND very tall, and consistently both across the entirety of the border.

AND you have to man it. The whole thing. Always. Without end.

That being said, I acknowledge that there is illegal immigration. But, I'll go ahead and say it: Your life, as an American, would suck without it. Wanna pay 3-4 (estimates vary) times the price for produce? Or, would you rather take back those precious, back-breaking, far below the minimum wage, basically slave labor jobs?

The downside is the flow of cheap methamphetamine. But, it's not like people aren't cooking the stuff here.

The whole illegal immigration debate is a redder than red herring. Income inequality is caused by far fewer people... people who look a lot more like Trump than Jose.

(disclaimer: This isn't directed at you, Dalai. Just the angry mob that's only in this election to watch something burn.)

Trump said Mexico will pay for the wall. That sounds ridiculous and he never said how he will strong-arm them into paying, but I think he does have some leverage with trade agreements. Also he said the wall will only be across half the border and it will cost around 10B. I personally think the wall is just a meme tbh.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

Mexico isn't paying for jack shit. They couldn't afford to plunk down that amount of money on their own infrastructure, let alone something that has literally zero positive impact on their society. Also, 10 billion is fucking laughably naive.

The problem is, even if rational people think it's lunacy, his supporters absolutely do not.

The benefits of free trade are mostly about efficiency, I think Mexico will survive a protectionist wave (even if painful). Also, almost any country would side with Mexico in this. There is no leverage, really. See this. Trump is applying to President, not Supreme Holy Emperor. He will be blocked as Obama was, at least about this crap where lobbyist have interests.

Meme presidents are fairly unpredictable. Here is Putin in a bear:

Spoiler

Question is: how sane is to choose someone that trolls for votes? How do you expect someone that uses a wall to gain supporters to govern? The absolute lack of sane plans should be damning, but, whatever.

The world is full of fucktards. Ours are just different. Also, do keep in mind that he only garners the support of a fraction of roughly half of the politically active population, which in and of itself is also a tiny fraction of the whole population.

No one wants to cover Jake going to work, or Steve mowing his lawn, or Jane having an average day. Trump's Assclowns get attention.

Disagree. He just has a shinier collar to leash his slaves with.

Think of it this way.

You MUST be happy.

Your DUTY is to ...
That is an amazingly insightful observation. I agree completely. Now go back in time to 1949 and tell that to Nathaniel Branden. You could have saved a few people from significant pain and suffering.

But if you hear someone saying you can be happy, that it's your natural right, that you have no duty to others more important than your duties to yourself, if any... well, there's one who probably isn't trying to collar you.
