Controlled Destruction

I'm a bit confused to see this gem linked to summons. Up until now, I was under the impression that spell damage does not affect summons (zombies, skeletons, spectres, SRS). Is that not correct? Because if it is, I do not understand what it would do for summoners at all...

I believe some spectres do spell damage, such as revenants and flame sentinels and a lot more but those popular ones use spells.

For my pathfinder, I still prefer inc. crit damage over this thing. Mana multiplier breaks through my regen and hurts my vinktar replenishing. Tooltip on BV goes from 10800 to 11400 (my links: BV - echo - inc. crit strikes - inc. crit damage - inc. aoe/conc effect - inc. duration). Not worth the extra mana multiplier and crit reduction (-8% total crit? Ouch).
As it should be, but IMO drawback needs to be harsher. | |

Controlled destruction did not support attacks until patch 2.3.
Now, in 2.3, it supports attacks, increases their mana cost and lowers their critical strike chance. But this gem is spell, support. Spell echo, another spell, support tagged gem doesn't support or decrease the damage controlled destruction does. Is this a bug? Is controlled destruction just a "support" now rather than "spell, support"? | |

Controlled destruction used to be good for CoC build cause it didn't lower your main attack crit chance. Now, it does. Is this work as intended?

Spell echo doesn't apply less damage. This is only valid for controlled destruction atm. Silent nerf to CoC builds...
That one is also a spell, support but of course it doesn't make attacks repeat or something, which is the only viable explanation for its current behavior. | |

In the tool tip and on the detailed skill information tab, using The Controlled Destruction support gem with Herald of Thunder's modifies the critical strike chance but doesn't modify the lightning damage of Herald of Thunder.
