Nobody Cares That I'm Leaving. But They Might Care Why.

The whole map gating is stupid on paper and on practice. Also, mapping eclipses the rest of the game. What's not to love?

^ Hats off for enjoying it that way, honestly. For anyone who does prefer the endgame though, its lacking. Or rather, access to it is.

E: that post of his just made me smile. Starts off with "don't tell others what they should enjoy". Follows up with, play it more like me, you'll enjoy it more. Uses flame totem build as example. Like, cmon.
since I have only a few months of playtime, I have limited characters, and that flame totem is the only significant diff build I have tried. Flame totem probably is one of the build I pick, because it is a significant different play style than a regular TS ranger. I going to try trapper later soon.

but that is not about myself. The combination of passive tree, the character's race, the unique gears can easily come up hundreds of diff builds.

Have u tried trap build? mines? claw weapons? CWDT build? Cod build? stun build, freeze build? regen build? burning build? The list go on....

My flame totem isnt even a end game capable build, that guy doesnt even have health/ES nodes he has been putting all damage nodes all the way. I am pretty sure he isnt end game.

A build doesnt have to be "end game capable, atziri capable" or be the most efficient build.
If u play Poe to be limited to that, u are limited to only a few handful of them, then u will get bored real quick.

cheers my 2 cents.

Yes. Go on.. Its not as extensive as you think. Oh what I would give to erase some of the knowledge I have acquired and see the game with fresh eyes again. No matter what your build, stack defenses or you'll never survive the end game. Its not as varied as you'd think.

Ya, for me, it kinda does. You're new, give it time. If you enjoy playing normal to merci over n over again and that's the meat of the game for you, that's great. It's not for everyone.

I play again for like 2 months, and just started the 1M race and I kinda agree for most the points.
I hit 92 in std and it's a real pain to keep going, there is not point... I'm so afraid to die doing more difficult map / mods, I really hate to realize that the last 20 maps effort got wasted and the time with it after 1 death.
I died 3 times in one session last week, I was so frustrated to lose 30% XP and 1 week of effort because i couldn't understand what happened (when will we have a combat log ?).

Long story short:
- no rewards vs time investment, this feels too much like a 2nd job
- there is content I will probably never try
- crafting: too expensive (i never tried to exalt anything, i prefer to spend ex to buy something)
- never got a 79+ map
- cannot beat atziri yet, but i guess i'm never going to ever try the uber version.
- Trade is painful, and relies on 3rd party

When you have leveled a char lvl90+ with 20/20 gems, I would expect any content is beatable and accessible in a relatively frequent manner so you can reach 100 and completely finalize the build.
I would need to spend like 1+ year to reach 100, really ?
I'm not good in english sorry. It's really true that it's not fun anymore and more of work than fun. I agree 100% and that the game is really centered on the hardcore players and the small community of elite players GGG has been listening to ever since. This game will die certainly, because GGG does not know where it is going. My solution that will pacify me is
make Oldschool path of exile like oldschool runescape lol. In case you have not heard of this, when runescape updates killed the game, they made a league where u can play the old way before the failed updates, players are now slowly going back to the game lol. I repeat this is for me only, if u don't agree then just laugh it off! if u like to post insulting remarks then ok but i like to say fuck u first! lol
Being a disconnected casual experimenter is a great way to stay 'in the game' :D
How to articulate the extent to which I agree with your post...?

Literally the only point of contention between us would be our views on trash uniques. Personally, I am in favour, they communicate GGG's general stance on unique's and are an fantastic source of alch shards.

GGG definitely need to improve their balancing efforts.

It's not a 13 week development cycle, it's a 13 week supporter-pack cycle.
You can play any build you want, as long as it's the current meta.
people want to masturbate their egos with how much strength they have in a game, if they cant do that, or it needs a lot skill / time / devotion they start to think that the game sucks and blame the Devs.

Or

People want to have the same dignity / order / control over things that they have in their home, in their room etc and if things are out of their control range, they start to dislike them.

These have nothing to do with the game.

Of course there are many pointless fundamental / core ideas in poe's construction. But when you try to create dramas out of your dislike about the game, thats totally pointless.

"
'' Builds are not remotely balanced, especially in 2.0, and so we're also expected to just follow what's popular until GGG decides it's finally reached the breaking point and changes it up again.''

This game has a wide build diversity, there are many skill gems, support gems, you cant expect a beautiful harmony or balance in such a game. When you play a game for very long time, you start to realize its impossible to put a balance between things. I was pro starcraft 2 player, after a while i realized the gmae has big balance problems, but i kept playing still, cause diversity causes imbalance, imbalance causes... fun... most of the time.

"
''The same can be said about item and map mods. Besides the fact that some base items have no point (coral amulets, to be precise, and potentially iron rings) there are also item mods that we avoid like the plague – regen and damage reflect, for instance.''

i totally agree with this though, many immature ideas from closed beta is still alive in 2.0. This has to be changed.

Leech overnerf was in order to bash the rich. Rich was getting high pdps weapon, building a 1500ex glass cannon build and relying whole survivability on life leech. With overnerfed leech, tankiness, regen has more value than ever, and those are easier to acquite than 573 pdps bow. So that is helping new players in the game. I think thats an outrageous overnerf though. Nerfing leech amounts 5 times? What the hell man.

Thats ggg and when it comes to buffs oh so gently with kid gloves on.
I might be a temp league player so a lot of your concerns do not affect me, but many others do - like the useless junk items, gated content, etc. You managed to express a lot of what I've been thinking and feeling about the game in an extremely well-written post which retains its high quality through and through despite its significant length. That speaks volumes about the intelligence and qualities of the person who wrote it. Therefore, I care that you left. Farewell and godspeed :)
You have to be realistic about these things.
