Admittedly, the speed that some of these people have got to is shocking. I think my best time for Act I was around 45-50 minutes, when I think some had that down in under 20? 'course, I never profess to be GOOD at racing... Or PoE in general, really.

'course, at the risk of sounding sour grapes, (but not: read above about how "I'm not good at PoE") it really DOES come off a bit as a cheap publicity stunt. Mostly on account of some of the following:

> Only one can win per league, rather than, say, the first 10. (or such, like normal races)

> It's done in a challenge league rather than a specific race league.

> Anyone who wins is likely dedicated enough that they already have better hardware at their disposal; the machine will just get resold for cash.

> Alienware is pretty crappy anyway; almost ANYONE would just sell it for the cash. Kind of a tacky prize. (If it would actually help you... You have my condolences)

The last two actually just make it really amusing.

There is always going to be cheese skills - no matter how you balance the meta.

I think the following quote from Principal Skinner sums it up nicely -
