Devourers are good
@Peter,
Testing doesn't mean just playing the game. testing, is purposely encountering Devourers in certain player-intended situations, and measuring and/or observing what happens, in detail. therefore DeviantLightning is correct: there is a need to test whether or not the worms auto-hit the player when they come out. I don't think they do, though. from what I've seen, they pop-up first and then start the attack-swing animation. perhaps Desync is what makes the player stay in place long enough - server side - to be hit by the swing, but I agree Lockstep is needed to know for sure. ^they don't automatically hit when they pop-up.
No need for lock-step to test this, since i run over them constantly in dark forest maps without getting hit once. Get like 40% move speed and just keep on running when they pop. Wait for all to pop and then engage them. I think some people just freeze up or something when they pop instead of staying calm and reacting to the situation correctly. i never found devourers to be an issue, sometimes a good rolled rare one can pack a punch though, but that's about it. Peace, -Boem- edit : desync, obviously, can also be the cause of getting hit, but doesn't that apply to any given situation in PoE? Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes Last edited by Boem#2861 on Jul 3, 2015, 8:54:27 AM

" I will oncur that perhaps more stringent testing should be performed; my own experiences in less-controlled situations have been pretty inconsistent on the matter. Of course, latency and/or desync could play a huge role there, too. As for Immortal Call, that seems a little odd. Perhaps they were referring to the possibility of simultaneous hits allowing for a high damage dump before the CWDT triggered? I have a stunner that just manually-casts IC, and I can confirm over and over that it entirely eliminates their damage output. (barring, of course, any mods or auras that add elemental damage) My guides: Summon Homing Missile (SRS) | Act II starter RF | Budget Oro's Flicker Strike

Here's my experience : when a bunch of Devourers emerge, I have the time to kill them all before they attempt to hit me. So, they get out of the ground THEN attack.
