I am respecting everyone's goal because i simply think that anyone has the right to have his own goal and that's ok with me.
I'm just saying that maybe he should think again about his goal. Don't you think that someone's gonna get bored when he has all the best possible gear in this game ? Don't you think that your goal needs to evolve in order to have fun ? Or are you just mad because GGG change things before you had the time to accumulate all the godly gear ? Having the highest tier mods is like being able to destroy the earth 40 times over with nuclear bombs. Anyone know why we need mods that can destroy the earth 60 times over, so to speak?
The only thing I can imagine is that it was meant for people who already have it all to have something new to aim for. If that is the case, it seems to backfire, and not surprisingly. From my experience people who need to be on top in a videogame are very mindful of their status. Taking that away from them is bound to make them unhappy. Or maybe it is because of the shift in the "meta"? If only desirable affixes are added to the list, and not useless ones, the probability of getting a useful higher tiered mod increases for everyone. So, maybe it's an indirect way of making it easier for people to get better gear? |

I've never even had a perfect T1 rolled item. I've spent thousands of alt orbs on high ilvl gear and never seen multiple T1 mods (or a third T1 after regalling on two).
The most ridiculous thing about this to me isn't devaluation of current perfect gear, but how almost impossibly hard it is to obtain such gear. " I'm glad I do not share your views. In my eyes, this is a sad way of look at things. But I know MOST people share this view, so in the end, I'm the outcast here. I am looking at items in terms of how much better they can make my character. How much defenses/offenses they can give me. How many passive points they can save me. Because in the end, beating monsters is what's it all about. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

" Ah, but that is essentially the same thing. I just look at this at a somewhat higher level of abstraction. I, too, value the impact of the items on my game play. However, in order to get the items I want, I need trade value. Value is a means, not an end. For example: the most fun I ever had was leveling a flicker witch to 99 with an aegis/block setup. I could do that only because I had access to perfect gear (since there were so many constraints). So, in essence, in game wealth is a tool for me to do crazy builds. Also beating monsters is not the only goal. If that were the case, then this game would have no longevity. Beating monsters super fast, with extreme MF gear or in a creative way is what makes this game so attractive to me. |

Maybe i could care if this wasn't an standard league rant again. I mean, seriously now: how often has GGG to show that they do NOT care about standard league before standard league crybabies realize that the game is NOT BALANCED AROUND STARNDARD?
There is a reason for this: temp. leagues are the default mode and it's much, much easier for GGG to balance around leagues that end after a time. GGG don't care about the other leagues and no, they should NOT. If you want to "beat" the game by having the best possible items with no need to change anything about your character EVER AGAIN, maybe play an offline game like Titan Quest that isn't evolving and does not cater towards players who like to reinvent their characters frequently. Sorry, but i've no sympathy for you people, even if i felt for you guys at some point, but the level of entitlement just drives me nuts. |

Faendris, I don't think any of your slippery slope scenarios are going to happen. I am going to tell you what will happen though and that is more things that mess with the value of your items in a negative way. You can count on it 100%.
Standard league is a happenstance pain in the neck. What happens there happens as a consequence of trying to make the game better for league players. With thousands of exalts many changes would not catch up to you in a negative way. Legacy items probably help you more than harm for instance. I am sure the respecs are a minor inconvenience since you can respec whenever you want. You are going to have to weigh this happening repeatedly vs. your desire for permanence. |

They are not adding new Items that invalidate your items and are right away better than anything that exists .
They are adding new mods for existing Items. So actually they never got back on their word. Cheers “Demons run when a good man goes to war" Last edited by Sneakypaw#3052 on Jun 11, 2015, 8:03:30 AM
