Endgame is boring lol

All the complaints about leveling being too slow... the endgame starts at early to mid 70s.

You don't have to wait till level cap to start end game, and those extra levels are just a goal for the hardcore here anyway. The focus is the gear. I really disliked D3's move to the MMO-style leveling system, where you reach a cap and then endgame starts.

Also, why does it matter if the leveling speed slows down if your clear speed is unaffected. Plan your build to be finished by 60-70, and each point beyond that, which is slow to obtain, becomes a bonus, not a necessity.

I don't like how much slower the leveling gets as you progress, and the XP loss makes it worse.
I'd rather just make new characters... now if only I had more skills to play with.

What's this XP loss you speak of?

I only play HC

XP loss is the thing that makes Hardcoreplayers out of Defaultplayers, because once you reach a certain level you realy, really don't want to die ever ;D
Endgame = maps, I think they are pretty fun though. I could do them all day (and I did, since map drop rates in maps are decent enough to sustain them).

But I agree it might be a pain to get the first few maps if you are alone. But once you have a few it's like a never ending supply.
You can also buy a 66 map, they're not expensive.

What's funny is that this is actually pretty true. The mindset WAY late game (85+) really does make this the case. I've been finding myself redoing my tree a little bit to get that extra little bit of defense squeezed out of the tree and onto my character.

Learn from the mistakes by deaths, adjust playstyle.

Wash, rinse, repeat

Again, Torchlight 1 and 2 have great endgames, see those if inspiritation is needed.

are you serious? i LOVE TL1 & 2, but i dont see them as having "end game" material. Mods are tl2 endgame. Its a game meant to play over and over again.

Well I am still playing TL1 (with 1000 hours clocked, more than I played D3), and the best Rifle I have ever seen dropped for my Vanquisher at Shadow Vault level 113, quite recently. How is an endless dungeon not decent endgame? It just gets harder and there is nowhere left to grind so only gear and enchants keep you going. And TL2 maps are great fun and plentiful.
Did you know level 91 is the halfway point to level 100? This means that a softcore character dying ONCE at level 85+ can lose many days of progress.

Seems like the map drop rates are too low.

Maybe increase the drop rates of the lower level maps so people always have maps to run?

Achan, I also strongly suggest trying out the Map system. The Maps are designed to offer a steadily ramping end game difficulty with great rewards. There is a ton of variety in the environments the maps contain, and players have the ability to modify their challange. Give them a try if you haven't already, I suspect that they'll rekindle that addiction you felt on the way to completing Merciless.

Maps are great, until you run out and have to run lower level content for hours on end just for a chance to get back on the wagon. Only to run out of maps again.

RNG is a bitch to me.

Yeah but I care less about the gear than you do. I'm more interested in the passive tree, which is a big selling point of PoE.

Again, it's because I enjoy leveling. I like making those choices on the passive tree. I like watching my DPS climb, my char get tankier, my mana usage change. I like having to choose between different builds. Those choices become harder and harder to get to as you level up. I get that it's intentional, but that doesn't mean I like it.

Making the leveling smoother wouldn't make it like D3. In D3 you have full access to every skill at level 60. There's 0 incentive to start a new character (even moreso when you can't get good end-game items as you level, unlike PoE).
I'm not even asking for the leveling to end before the endgame starts. That'd be terrible, since it'd take out one of the fun things I enjoy about the game while I'm completing the endgame. I'm just saying leveling should be faster than it is now, even if it takes increasing the death penalty to satisfy the playerbase.
