" Resolute Technique = 1 skillpoint investment Crit Build = more than 20 nodes spread across the tree, not counting traveling cost + you will need accuracy nodes on top of this if it´s for attack based builds (no hit = no crit). It´s kinda stunning how many people have failed to acknowledge this difference and keep asking for RT buffs in order to "balance it with crit". It should be obvious to anyone, that it´s a ridiculous thing to ask for. |

" It is not so, and you are hypertrophic and simplify problem in your untruth, or half truth. You do not count all the nodes needed to get RT, and it is very much node. Also, you are not considered a huge negative penalty, so that covers all the advantages, namely: 50% MORE damage of the crit multiplier, which in turn is very simple and easily accelerates to 800-900% MORE damage!!! Multiplier boost ALL damage, even added and converted damage by your %Multiplier with your main source damage, when RT don't boost damage, and each node requested to take for each souce of damage. That's already HUGE imba. Also, you not take into account that the slightest crit you get an instant status-effect (soon there will be Chaos damage effect, if trust GGG), and it is simply huge and the most important indicator, as much depends on it, and it is the huge imbalance that can triviality of most bosses because of freezing or shock effect. More you not take into account that Dex gives a lot of accuracy and judt simple crit weapons with the least small accuracy give 85%-88% chance to hit, which is sufficient for the passage of any content. The problem pointer DPS is that it does not show the real strength of critical ctrikes and Crits at all, is a good example: the recently playing for bowman I took 5L lioneye's glare from the built-in RT (100% chance to hit) and a small chance to crit and I kill monsters for 4-8 shots. Then, for the sake of the experiment, and for a change I took 5L same colours and gems crit bow and without a single node on the accuracy I had a chance to hit almost 90% due to Dex, a lot of Dex, i get same DPS but I killed everything for 1 shot... with 1 shot i clear packs and some rare monsters. With same DPS tooltip I got a big difference at the same DPS Crit is very easy to accelerate from the base chance to crit in weapons and critical multiplier accelerates even more easier and it is an additional indicator that even more important than others, which have no RT builds, and harder to stack DPS for RT. And every weapon have almost same base DPS, so crit can be boosted a lot faster and easy then RT. RT node does not begin with the first launch (started) node as you say, and requires a lot of nodes to get the RT, RT is also very poorly accelerates, and always weaker in speed from killing monsters and PVE, Boss fight and clear speed. But all this you would not understand because we are interested in the opposite and so on offtopic this does not make sense to discuss here, so how do you know yourself, but you're afraid that Crits would be nerfed. GGG do not care about buff RT, bcs its not what they want, they do not care about balance or something, and if they don't care about balance and bugs - they will not delay BETA and we will see game with HUGE imbalance and a lot of bugs/crash and dupe. And back on the overall topic of the post:
There are so many changes, so many gripes, that the beta really should be extended beyond July. I am left to wonder why all of these changes weren't brought in over a long period, one or two at a time, so balance and effect could be seen individually. As it is, its a gigantic clusterfuck of effects all ganking each other all over the place. |

Just one last piece of advice : there´s a fundamental difference between a discussion using clearly outlined arguments and writing up emotionally inflated walls of text including accusations and insults. You seem to favor the latter, so I´ll gently withdraw at this point and leave the thread free to go back on topic, or whereever you wanna take it...it´s all yours, Sir ! As for on topic : I am not afraid of it, I take it for granted that The Awakening will contain huge imbalance. The past 2 years taught us that meta-game and balance are ever-shifting aspects of PoE, and how would they be capable of properly balancing it when they´re adding even more complexity + overhauling some core mechanics at the same time ? I rather expect an approach like this: - start all over, get it just about right enough so that most stuff works (remove uninteneded interaction of aspects and sort out all bugs/crash issues) - take care of new problems/imbalance with follow-up patches, some of them sure delayed over the length of whole challenge leagues, creating new FOTM builds and skills during those leagues - then, with each league, shift some more to continue the good old ever-changing story just as before It´s perhaps not the most optimistic outlook, but in my opinion the best we can realistically expect from experience. Personally, I´m not worried, though, as all this stuff will certainly not overshadow how great a game PoE generally is. I am confident The Awakening will be even greater, all GGG-stlye weirdness included. That´s all I can say, peace out ;) |

" ^^ priceless :) Also "treeofdead" vs "almostdead". :) On topic: The balance will never be perfectly done, given the complexity of things and every player having his own opinion (as clearly seen in this thread). Personally i feel that as long as the balance is "reasonable", and there are no ridiculous game breaking items (legacy grade stuff), and the code is stable, the game should "go live". i'd go with "trust the developers" on this one. If the team feels it's ready, it's ready, warts and all. Oh, i didn't even list Surgeon mod on Flask (Recharges 1 Charge When You Deal A Critical Strike) that make you unlimited use of any Flasks and Acuity gloves that gave you instant LL.
There is even more to say about superior Crits compared to RT, but as i can see Grumlum as other don't have ANY argument at all and still think he right and know everything, but can't say any words why.
