So played PoE for a while then played d3... My reaction...
" thats what I feel like the direction they are taking D3, you pick it up, kill demons, play other games and then you return. They need to make it simpler, you pick 1 of 5/6 classes. Choose a premade build by blizz and just go have fun. no gears/stats...just fun, right? |

The more I play D3 the more I believe the comparison to cookie clicker isn't that far off xd

D3 is at a great place right now and by many metrics I would say is better designed than PoE (such as in mitigating player frustration).
I particularly like the early-endgame period, where you are doing endgame content but don't have very good gear. Just about every single legendary or set item that drops causes you to reevaluate your setup, finding the best way to utilize the unique affixes that are now available. The fact that most builds involve cooldown management and juggling of multiple skills also makes the gameplay more intrinsically enjoyable. With no 'zero-animation' skills or action queuing in PoE, I always feel juggling skills to be too much of a hassle, especially when there are many viable one-button builds available. I still like PoE, though for different reasons. Its okay to like both games, you know. Its also okay to be critical of the games you like. IGN: Ikimashouka, Tsukiyattekudasai, DontCallMeMrFroyo

Tried going back for s3 a few days ago to get my transmog set and it was agonizing. Lvl 23 and already bored out of my mind. I first played d3 with ros and its surprising how little has changed in spite of all the cash the game has raked in. The character I am playing now (wizard) is the exact same as the wizard I played back when ros was first released and will probably always be the exact same. No proper variations between characters of the same class, only different rotations.
"Personally I hate this. Really when you boil it down you still have your main dps skill and a high cooldown ult in the end (just like a vaal skill), but world of diablocraft forces you into a rotation where you use a bunch of other skills (usually some cheap buffs, debuffs) that make me feel like a hamster running in a wheel. At least in poe I can choose to be a 1 skill spammer or choose to have a bunch (single target, aoe, curse, movment) that all have very proper functional value. "In d3 there is like one good set for each class and that is your "build" what a joke. And in the same vein there is no reason to play more than one of the same class. You may hate making new chars in PoE, personally me and most find this to be a strength of the game, not a weakness. Having to respec just shows how much they add and change up the meta game. I love when this happens, who wants to play the same old shit over and over? In RoS you don't have to do that cuz nothing has changed aside from nerf one setto shit and buff another, or maybe you have 5 parts of one set and 2 parts of another..... how deep. Such itemization. Even if they have balanced each set to one and other (from what I have gathered that is not really the case but lets assume), it still boils down to collect set, build done.
Having itemization revolve around sets is just shit and boring. Then factor in the they stripped out every other aspect of character builds, attributes, skill tree and all you are left with in a "build" is that shit itemization. Clearly tho you like having it all the same, you even said yourself you don't like to make new chars and dont like to respec or have to change up your chars so I totally understand why d3 is to your tastes. "Noone would replay the garbage campaign in ros that they butchered is why. In poe the campaign is fun and I would rather do that than the stupid "adventure mode". Hell they should just delete all the other acts aside from 1 in ros, noone plays that shit, just rerun act one for rorg till u get it then rift, wow what a game. To put it a different way: Each class has one to three "strongest builds" with varying degrees of strength, but until you get the items needed for those builds, there's a huge variety of options available, all depending on the gear you have at the time. It's pretty fun actually to be running around as build X, find a new legendary, and say "Well, I guess I'll be build Y now! How can I make this work with what I have..."

" Well at least in acts you have some feel of natural progression. Adventure mode is just 'free these 3 guys' - 'go to this dungeon and kill all mobs at level 2' - 'kill 150 mobs and this boss that is just a boring rare but his name is in shiny violet so he's a boss' over and over again xd GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence. How many "builds" (like I said its a stretch to call them that in d3) can hit the top of the rift leaderboards?
And what reward do you get once you achieve this feat? 20% chance to add a 1% buff to one gem. Such rewarding endgame. And atziri is a great boss that can be done with either mechanical skill, straight up gear or both. People have beaten her with 1 hp. Not just the tank and spank like everything in d3. |

"Yes that is established and probably why this game will always grid your gears. However many enjoy leveling up builds and playing the poe campaign. In d3 noone would ever replay that trash story. Run act 1 adventure till level 70 and rorg (just delete other acts blizzard, noone plays that trash)>rift, thats d3 right there. |
