GGG.. youre giving out a warning to hackers... why?

Why would you warn them instead of ban them?

Up until now everyone who was botting or cheating in general got instantly banned(apart from 1 case in CB), why would you give a freebie for all of the people who are doing it?

and the part where people who were top racers were using it, since they werent awarded demigods eye... fuck me... imagine how many races they won because they used these hacks before you caught them...

Also, if people rely on third party software to remove partical effects and they basically risked their account to do this, dont you think its worth adding this option in game?

EDIT: i just want to clarify,im not being a smartass, i actually want to know why and im assuming a lot of other people want to know why you are warning instead of banning too.

On another note:

As much as i like this free 2 play model im starting to think youre better off asking for money to make an account, this way you get rid of some of the cheaters, hackers and RMT-ers alike since theyd have to pay every time they make a new account.

But obviously youd still need a way to detect these things, especially RMT, theres so many people doing rmt its insane...

..oh and from what ive read here hackers already managed to get passed the anti-hack thing you introduced.. so thats depressing.

They likely realised just how big a hit it would be if they banned them all.
They have let it get somewhat out of control, same with jsp, tail is wagging the dog now.
Casually casual.

Spoiler

I still think a "wait and see" approach is best here, we don't know exactly what the machinations are.

I'm intrigued to see the impact of the warning - but as has been stated in another thread (and verified, Thanks Google!), there is quite a bit of work going on by the l33t0r h4x0rs to get around the sniffy sniffy.

The biggest pain in the ass is that this all distracts a bunch of people who really should be able to focus on providing a solid gaming experience, and fostering a positive community.

What a fucking waste of money and resources having to track down and investigate these wankers.

Massive thanks to GGG for producing such a fun and engaging game, it has taken up faaaaaaar too much of my life over the last 5 years.

Best of luck in the future!
I don't think it would be fair to ban everyone now. A lot of people used it to disable particle effects or loot filter. I don't see how that is worthy of an instant perma ban. And yes those things would and will flag your account.

There has been a lot of discussions about it lately and im sure a lot tried it out, a warning is enough to scare people away from it.

Sure hope GGG will implement some of the features tough. (Cough, adjust amount of particles, cough)
1. The amount of people cheating was probably a lot bigger than they thought

2. Many cheaters are highly active (paying) players, as much as you may like GGG they still need to pay the bills so you can't just ban them outright

3. Playing the devil's advocate here but I heard a lot of players used hacks to simply remove skill effects to improve performance

The last reason seems very likely, since the game can lag for me in full parties even on a powerful high-end GPU. I also heard a lot of people used these hacks for item notifications and such, allowing players to focus more on gameplay rather than looking at loot. I wouldn't want to see those people permabanned, I know the pain of spending so much time looking for loot / ID'ing.

I think GGG believes people are inherently good therefore they have given people a chance to stop.

It is a one time warning and further use of offending programs result in a ban with no recourse.
