This game is too easy
To be honest, the game is only ridiculous if you do OP builds. Try doing a glass cannon shadow CI or a melee (and by melee, I don't mean ground slam or templar wand/lightning strike) and then you will see the stark contrast in difficulty
The game still has quite a lot of work in regards to balancing, some builds are ridiculously strong, others are ridiculously bad (and its not because the builds are badly designed, its an issue with some stats being useless and how various things scale) |

I can't talk about the endgame, but I'm in Act 3 Cruel and it's hard...very hard. As a hybrid Dagger/EK Shadow it's really NOT easy. But it's fun and challenging, and that's how it's supposed to be.
Maybe after reaching level +85 I will be able to charge into a room full of enemies and kill them all without using a health pot, but at the moment I have to play slowly, carefully, plan my every move and I still die a lot. My 2nd Diablo 3 character had zero deaths and not a single health potion used until the end of Hell. Now, that's easy. PoE is not. |

" You can tell by the forums and by chatting to people in game what it is like. Lots of whining about dying after disconnecting while trying to portal to town. I dare anyone to tell me thay got to lvl 55+ in hardcore without using a portal in combat or alt and f4 and I will flat out call them a liar. If the game is as hard as you elite players make out there is no way you would be able to make it so high without using cheap tactics. And if you did? then the game obviously isn't that hard then. So then are you people lying about cheating or lying about game difficulty? Be honest now, I watch Lie To mE so i can tell when you are not telling the truth. |

" I think the map system is beautiful in that it can accommodate this rather easily. In broad strokes, what GGG needs to do is create a few extremely hard, borderline insane map mods with very high quantity bonuses. When the insane mods spawn, normal players will reroll or trade them off to the high-ELOs of the world... it won't mess up the normal endgame experience too much. The trick is making very hard challenges in a creative way. Tweaking numbers all the way up generally either: 1) makes an unbeatable obstacle, or 2) makes something that can be beat by discovering a good mitigation system to almost completely negate the threat, making the supposed challenge a cakewalk Some interesting hyper-difficult examples might include "Equipment provides no benefit" (you're basically walking around naked) or "Passives except for Strength, Dexterity and Intelligence provide no benefit." When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

I found it very hard in single player...but in parties of more than 2 people it becomes too easy, you're right...
Monsters need to be more aggressive and maybe they should be much many.. |

Interesting thread - but honestly, I think people like the OP who find the game too easy seem to be the minority at the moment. I'd say it's even the opposite - i.e. there are lots of people complaining that the game is too hard/too complex and are asking for it to be dumbed down, just see all the threads about looting, respecs, etc.
It's an interesting conundrum for GGG - or any gaming company - and I don't think there is a simple solution. Do they cave to the casuals Blizzard-style, dumb down the game and alienate their core audience (but possibly gain more money) or do they go even deeper into a niche, make the game even harder and probably drive away the casuals? Time will tell, but I don't really see them making the game any harder than it already is. What have you become when even nightmares fear you?

some of you make me cringe. I will say it again. the game is easy. that doesn't mean it's bad. it's very complex and fun so I'll let the difficulty slip. I'm enjoying it. but the fact is it's easy. I know I play soft core but hard core difficulty is the same, only death is permanent. I've died a handful of times on my lvl 65 witch, but that was because when you play soft core you play a bit more carelessly. haven't died once on my lvl 35 templar, haven't even come close to dying. I remember how d3 inferno used to kick my ass, we had invulnerable minions, enrage timers, elites regenerated health after time, they did a TON of damage.
PoE is fun, very deep and all that but it's also easy. my witch is lvl65 and merciless is easy. imagine her with 30 more levels under the belt. roflstomp. I've killed bosses on merciless where all I had to do is drop a skeleton totem and start scratching my balls. they never attacked me once. easy? yes. In case many of you missed, this is yet another hundred thread out there which simply is enough to prove that game IS easy by its own title.
Let this link be a smack in their faces who keeps denying facts; http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/98161 "This is too good for you, very powerful ! You want - You take" Last edited by BrecMadak#3812 on Feb 8, 2013, 7:26:54 AM

Brec:
I knew before clicking this would be a Ranger and I knew it'd be toting some serious twink gear. On Alpha, I have a zero skill Ranger playing pretty much 'Diablo 1' mode relying only on passive nodes and she destroys Normal. Try the same with melee. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between. I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period. Last edited by Foreverhappychan#4626 on Feb 8, 2013, 7:41:30 AM

Playing harcore doesn't make the game any harder by definition, the only thing that changes is the perma death, nothing changes about the mechanics and the AI.
Infact the death ratio is much lowered in hardcore than softcore, because people are forced to build defensive traits and play in certain ways under the fear of perma death. You're less likely to die playing 1 hour in hardcore than softcore, you're not rewarded to take huge risk and pull an entire room to seek challenge. It's just harder to reach max lvl, but the game itself it's not harder, it's a fact. I did reach 100 in hardcore on Diablo2 but, time passed and i espect something more than and old mechanic that was never good in the first place. I'm sure many like me did also grind paragon 100 on Diablo3 hardcore, and now wants something more interesting/different. This game was advertised as challenging, and it is not. , Last edited by AceofSpadesqt#1037 on Feb 8, 2013, 7:42:27 AM
