To be fair you are comparing onslaught song vs pain sunder + diamond flask not the two weapons alone. You probably should get a full flask set up for both weapons and then compare the ultimate dps. Wasting a flask slot to just barely get 90% crit may not be worthwhile considering that there are so many good flasks out there. Also you really should make a thread about the comparison like Deth does. I love discussing EQ but how am I supposed to find any discussion in this constantly bumping thread.

Just to name a few witchfire for the vulner + dot, vinktar for the shock, taste for the dmg+defense, dying sun for the aoe are all good options. X-Y is important but there are other factors you can't ignore.

Opinions are welcome.

The reason I don't like Vinktar is because we use Acuity (instant leech), we have at least 1.6% phys dmg leech and we're almost 100% phys dmg. So we actually don't really need the leech from vinktar. Even if we want the leech from it, we will have to use 20% phys convert which decrease the bleed/poison dot. It's anti-synergy. We only take advantage of shock but waste a flask slot. (And we even need a shock immunity flask.)

The reason I don't like witchfire is I can just use vulner aura or even self-cast it in boss fight if I want to, no reason to waste a flask slot for it, right?

The rest good options are ToH (very ideal for offense/defense), Atziri's Promise (DPS oriented, also can scale up poison dot), Dying Sun, Life Flask, and other utility flasks like Silver, Quicksilver, and Sulphur Flask.

My argument is very simply, you cannot find any flask listed above that can boost ur x-y dmg by 30%.

If you want a real example, we then have to take freeze/bleeding immunity into account. (I would tend to be DPS Oriented since we're in Standard)




In both cases, staff still has 93% crit chance vs axe 84% (60%+24% from diamond flask). But Axe can deal 20% more dmg than staff when crit strike (increased 40% dmg from Sulphur Flask should be roughly 10% more dmg in this case).

Anything I missed or you disapprove?

Even if we include Vinktar and Witchfire or any other unique flasks into our consideration,

Here's the deal:

Diamond Flask is always a built-in flask in PainSunder case bcz we need the flat crit chance boost and we need at least one or two utility flasks for freeze/bleed immunity (depends on if your class has immunity or not)

For staff case, you will have to find other one or two utility flasks for immunity.

In the case I posted on first page, I was comparing diamond flask in axe with any other unique/utility flasks in staff, and it is true that there's no flask can boost staff x-y dmg up by 30% except Lion's roar.

In this real case, we are actually comparing diamond flask in axe with other utility flask in staff, bcz we considered many factors as you wish, got it?

(We even need another one utility flask for shock immunity if you use vinktar, this is why I don't like to use it as I explained.)
