Do you think using herald of thunder and ice is good/bad/worth with SRS? its a 'spell' right, so it should increase aoe and dmg by a good amount right?

from my experience, HoT doesn't even work when the minions make the kill. You'd need to slay the monsters with your own attack/spell to make it work.

Hmm, weird..I tested flametotem to see if they work and it seems like it works half the time lol..

also...I was looking into his HC life SRS build for scion ... http://poeurl.com/y8k4qWn

and wanted to make the witch version ... http://poeurl.com/y8k4xZ1

with the changes to the witch starting (mana/regen nodes) it seems like if you remove the 2 points at deep thoughts on a witch to make up for the extra two points in the starting tree, you'd still end up at the same/5% off maybe? mana / mana regen from passives...so its pretty much the same exact tree....I guess the difference comes down to Scion has a better progression with the skill effect and life nodes so close by, but witch might have better quest gems, though Scions got some important ones too (added fire / melee splash etc)

The herald gems do NOT work with any minions what so ever, sadly and at the same time fortunately for balancing issues :)

Regarding the whats the best class to use for the different SRS builds, here is my verdict:

HP builds:
Witch works, feels a bit like wasted points with the start due to EB/CoD
Templar, very stable early on due to good hp nodes and mana
Scion is absolutely the best for late game play, like the Templar they have easy access to early hp nodes but doesn't have to waste as many points to hit the "main route" which saves points for better skilling in the later lvls.

ES builds:
Witch, all the way witch there is no arguement that would make me chose anything but a witch for these builds when it comes to SRS.

Hybrid builds:
Due to lacking experience i will simply not give any verdict regarding these builds, but from the looks of it it seems to be following the same guidelines as i have for HP builds (in the same order).

1.3 patch notes = nerf to high level SRS...would probably have to be a huge nerf for it to matter IMO

Vaal Haste has had its attack speed and cast speed reduced by a flat 5% at all levels.

Cloak of Defiance: The 10% additional mana absorption has been removed.

Arctic Armour has had its physical and fire damage taken when hit reduced at high levels. By gem level 20 they are reduced from -189 to -161.

Yesterday you looked at some builds on your stream (including mine). As it's pretty much impossible to have proper discussion in twitch chat I decided to post on your thread instead. So like you always say, this is just my opinion, but I felt the need to explain why I prefer somewhat different routing than you do.

My build (updated to 109 points like yours): http://poeurl.com/y8ohF4A
.

You considered going to Shadow to be ineffective but I don't think that's true. Just comparing the numbers proves otherwise (numbers below are how my version differs from yours):

Strength +20
Dexterity +10 (with both +30 nodes available for leveling, you have only one)
Intelligence +50
Life +5%

All Res -6%
Fire Res -8% (max -1%)
Cast Speed -2%

Everything else is practically the same.

I understand that +1 max fire res form Barbarism is nice but I don't believe it's worth of spending 7 points for 14% life (a whopping 2% per point spent). +6% all res should be nothing at lvl 90+ when you're planning to do Atziri and for leveling purposes there are +8% and +12% all res nodes available for two points each if needed.

2% cast speed loss is a loss, not disagreeing on that one, but more dex and more life gives a little more freedom to choose your jewelry (e.g. to get cast speed :D ). You could even drop one life node for cast speed and be ahead on both stats if you value cast speed enough.

Devotion is debatable. Another option is to fill Scion life wheel with those points. That would result in additional +5% life but I'm not so sure that's better than +20 int, +20 str and 5% buff on AA and Vaal Haste (with Clarity and Haste the buff is most likely too small to make any difference).

And again, not telling you to play the way I play. Just explaining my choices more in depth than was possible in twitch chat (also I'd like to emphasize that my build is originally meant to be a solo self-found build and going to Shadow gives me a more robust leveling spec for 13 respec points). I wish you good luck in Bloodlines.

thanks for the update
Hey there,

thanks for the great guide! I switched to SRS after my aegis/flicker build got destroyed by the patch. Since I love to craft and could not find suitable boots and amulets I simply crafted them myself. Maybe this is of help to some of you:

Cheers!

Hey guys!

Gonna see if i can catch up on everything briefly in this post:

I would suggest new SRS players to the HP witch version as the lvling guide works for that. However both Templar and Witch versions are slightly better (tree wise) imo.

I will move my buildtree list to the main thread now that i've concluded that they are all legit and working.

Thank you for spending the time to post this here, i appreciate it.
As i always say, my guides are to be seen as guidelines rather than "this is what you have to do for best output"
I will take your build in to strong consideration for my future projects, thank you!
