The biggest problem with PoE is not what you think.

People who crave recognition and approval from strangers and need a reason to feel like they are better than someone elLe. Look at the way this community scoffs at D3 and people who play it. They convince themselves and each other that just by choosing to play one mindless hack and slash dungeon crawler over another they are superior to a couple million people who choose to play another. Look at every thread where someone voices a complaint. There is always handful of people saying "x complaint is easy. You must be doing something wrong. Look at me everyone I'm awesome". And those type of people are who he game is catered too and balanced around. Because god forbid some starnger with and ego complex says a hack and slash game is easy.

I believe it is called "Competitiveness".

I think you are reading too far into things/self-projecting a little too much here in this rant, buddy. Just sayin.

Iv'e never seen an olympic gold medal winner call the silver a scrub. I've never seen a professional basketball/football/hockey team call college teams casual. There is a difference between wanting to win and wanting to beat and degrade.

Welp. Way to prove my point and OP's

Woosh

Beautiful strawman though in that wall of text, I'm sure it helps you sleep at night.

Ironically, you have to be pretty miserable to type something like that in the first place.

Tried. It missed me, or so it said with some of its admittedly strange voices. The GF still gives me shit for coming back, but accepts I'm ultimately a weak willed idiot who cares too much about nothing, and finds the approval of strangers online illogically nourishing.

The community is the biggest problem, but my absence won't fix that. My presents, however, occasionally bring a little light to the gloom. :)

Profoundly delusional.

The biggest problem by far is the community, so far over the past I wanna say 2 weeks of frequenting the forum I noticed something. The amount of hate, elitism, and only caring about the market is just insane, its almost like the people on the forums don't actually play the game they just come here to make an arguement. Its not as bad as the LoL community but it pretty close.

It seems like each community member is known by what they hate or who they troll, etc. not "hey this guy is really nice and skilled" no its "hey this guy is an elitist/scammer/etc."

I would disagree with your point that the community is the problem, since what you see on the forums is the reaction from the community to the action which ggg have made.

That people have a tendency to be particularly cynical and angry on the forums, probably stems from the fact that those who post are those who care the most.

You have to remember that it's only a fraction of the player base who even spend their time posting on the forums, and people sometimes use it to vent their frustration because ggg, messes with something which they have invested time in.

You paint it as every single one of us who visit the forums is only here for calling people out for scamming/botting/whatever, or trying to troll, it is true that a few of those who post here only troll most of the time, but hey name a forum without trolls, and besides i believe that most of us have learned to look past it (or ignore it) :)

The fact that so many people care about the economy (which is shit) in this game, is down to the fact that GGG have made a game with a strong emphasis on trading, trading enables people to do things, and that makes people focusing on it so much.

The community is not the biggest problem with POE, its one of the best parts of the game, but every community have bad apples, and bad apples have a tendency to fill the most, and believing that POE would be different than any other community is quite optimistic.

Competitive =/= Professional

I don't think I've seen streamers calling other people scrubs or trash. I think that would be the equivalent of the gold medal winners in PoE.

Hard to play game when I'm at work. easy to post even looks like work.

Honestly I blame forums and streamers for making ppls expectations too high. Thats where at least 90% of the complaints originate from. drops rates, economy and what not. Before internet comparing you'd never know and just play a game and have fun.

No, I would probably play another game, because from my own experience drop rates are abysmal. But I do see what others get and hope that I'll start getting similar stuff. Not to mention that since this game is balanced around party play it wouldn't even work without internet.

I dont play with nobody. Own atziri and take no damage. But without trade I coulnt do it so i see your point.

Oh and I said internet comparing not internet itself. If one stops watching streams and going to forums you don't know what you're missing and no envy can set in.

It is implicit that when someone says the 'community' is rotten, they're referring to the posters of this forum, and by extension, those who have failed to retain a rational stance through the vicissitudes of game development but are still here.

Perhaps they are just passionate and they honestly feel that the game is going in a bad direction and just don't want to abandon it and see it fail.

Or perhaps they are just used to getting their way and can't accept that views which are different (or outright opposite) from theirs exist.

Or perhaps it's something more deep and related to modern day society.

Or perhaps it's something more simple and they just like to troll.
