Latency issue during certain time periods. With MTR

I do not have brighthouse. I am on Summit Broadband.

another MTR from right now.

I do not notice any ping issues in other games. Maybe a 10-15 ms jump in diablo 3. Nothing like the 200+ jump I get in POE.

looking at your trace, it appears to be a peering issue between Level3 and NetworkLayer in Miami.

Best bet is to email your ISP with a copy of the trace and have them escalate to Level3.
Your first and second sentences contradict each other, but that is beside my point.

Traceroute is a computer network diagnostic tool for displaying the route AND measuring transit delays of packets across an IP network. The information it displays is NOT useless. However, yes, it doesn't show transit delays over time in aggregate like the other tools. The latter is more helpful than a single trace.

But to simply discount what my post shows, and to go off point by saying something I didn't say, is something other than professional or helpful. "Missing 1 packet or a failure to resolve a host means absolutely nothing..." - Huh? I never said either thing. In general, I agree that packet loss is acceptable, and the amount of acceptable loss varies on the type of data being sent. And hostname failures are DNS related. Can we stay on point?

In this case, my trace shows that ICMP traffic was affected when it entered networklayer.com and it persisted through to patch101. This COULD indicate a problem in terms of load. Or it could very well be something as simple as quality of service or ICMP de-prioritization (also because of load), which isn't uncommon, but I wouldn't know for sure because I don't have visibility into that layer of infrastructure. Nor should I. And notice that the highest latency only surfaced when it hit networklayer.com. Can you simply put your head in the sand and choose to ignore this evidence without a decent explanation? That kind of latency can most certainly affect gameplay if it lasts for the usual 3 to 5 second lag hang/spike.

Look, I'm not trying to paint a picture by saying that my one trace speaks for all time. And you make a valid point in that a bigger problem would affect more users, but this is more of a subtle problem which happens intermittently but frequently enough to annoy. My trace was simply a basic example to aid in my case, which I'm not going to make a career in writing about. But the lag spikes are enough of a problem lately since the expansion's launch for me to actually post about it in the hopes that my voice can either join others in elevating a shared problem or my voice can simply die out and go away because it isn't a problem GGG can do anything about, for whatever reasons.
@diddykong7:
I'm not trying to get into an argument with you.

If you would like assistance, please provide a proper WinMTR trace (in your own thread) that runs for at least 300 packets and captures any "problems" you are experiencing (higher than normal latency). Then we can assist you properly.

A single traceroute is not going to provide any sort of data that we need to actually assist you.
I second this, Also made my own thread about it.

Im not sure if to actually call my ISP and send them the WinMTR. Knowing them they'll probably wash their hands saying something like "The packet loss is happening on dallas, so we can't do anything about it since it's not ours".
still high ping at night -_-
I live in NZ and the lag issues are a real problem, also constantly getting kicked from the game as well as the game shutting down with a PID error. I would love to spend money on this game but wont be spending a single solitary cent because of the constant issues.

I play a lot of different games online and dont have any where near the issues with those games that i do with this.

My knowledge on computers is pretty poor but, you dont need to be an expert to know there are real issues with POE
Same here with EU servers. I can play hours of CS:GO without ping spikes, and in POE it's just a hell, 1 minute of normal 80-100 ping and then 300-600 constantly. My guildmates from another country also have that issue. For me it's mostly happening in maps or hideout, running docks now and nothing wrong with ping.

then i start my map - boom http://puu.sh/eeFVj/56e158b7fe.jpg 600ping. i have no idea what's going on and i hope we'll get response.

Got same extreme ping issues with maps on EU. 1 of my 6stack also has the same problem (though he doesn't disconnect and I do), 4 other friends don't have a problem.
EU gateway, same problem today. Some instances have normal 50-60 latency, some - 200-300, some - 600-900. ReNew (and renew and renew ...) instance solve problem in lunaris or sceptre. But mapping is painful.
