How did you find out about PoE?

I learned about PoE in D3 endgame... The Forums.
People were crying on the D3 forums about their disappointment, and how a little known indie game called Path of Exile proved more engaging. Well D3 isn't all that bad, seeing how I've given 500-600 hours to it. But it isn't Diablo (I wanted something dark and gritty), and it has run out of fun content. Still it's good for free PoE publicity, I guess :)

I checked it out, and here I am. I'm very impressed by the art direction, graphics style and complex gameplay of PoE, and I did what I could to make sure it succeeded (silver supporter pack). It even had semi-decent music! Only thing was the UI can be clunky at times, the combat slightly underwhelming and not as fluid (a lot of hits feel like missed swings, skills don't flow smoothly with movement), and the rough edges around some graphics (exits and entrances appear as flat white blocks rather than some halo/illumination).

Still, it's good :)

yeah i was expecting something gritty. like PoE. But instead blizzard spilled wows all in the diablos. But DarkD3 and with the help of my monitor / graphics card settings, helped me get the game looking more how i wanted. after that i coulkdnd play without it. Yes the psyhics are great, monster deaths and gibbing is superb. Yes there is some sinister parts with candles and blood.. But its not quite diablo to me. way too happy happy sunshine land.

i just went on d3 to add up my hours played. cot damn 1k of them haha. which is nothing compared to my d1-2 playtime.. and then i went to visit the forums. aint been there in months. Which PoE players keep spamming d3 forums with PoE talk. cause there were quite a few talking about PoE.
Smoother than Smooth.

I had great times with D1, D2. I really wanted to immerse myself in their successor D3, do what I can to enjoy it. It might be nostalgia I guess, because towards the end I was forcing myself to log into the game, and couldn't last more than 1 hour each time.

Many a great time with my friends and randoms on d1-2

My first problem was the obligatory minimap.. i was like. wtf is this shit. wheres my map overlay. and then the hand holding of quests and massive bleeping beacons you can see from the other side of the map.. at least give me the option to turn them off. But alas. stuff like that aside. i wanted to like d3. and i do. It just, wasnt the diablo i grew up with.

Also the fact that i can pretty much go naked and never have to use a potion at the start. i was like.. this is a bit.. childish. Arena styled bosses with cutscenes. Oh and then the fact they removed mf with their paragon system. which. is okay. but now theres even less point trade offs and stats to look for...im not disregarding it completely. cause i still think it is decent fun to smash shit up in that game. and the breakable environments are pretty fun.

There are improvments in the game and then there is stuff that turns me off. n yeah i rarely play it for more than an hour or two or like a couple runs of 5 stacks.

Edit. i really hated what they did to Cain. cmon. that has to be one of the most pathetic death scenes ever. he doesnt even go out in an epic bang. he just dies like a pussy :( to butterflies. And the lord of terror talks too much. I liked like d1 where you were activating the switches killing his minions.. then bam mother fuckers just killing you.

Smoother than Smooth.

Initially i was turned onto Kripp cause of his Youtube Stream of first hardcore inferno Diablo3 achievement.

Grandmaster Adventurer
Anyone know what Mythos was? It was terrible game but I read about PoE on its forum.
I think IGN.com or another site mentioned the PoE closed beta back in July 2011, so I signed up and got in that december.

But I only started playing after watching kripp's stream.
