I've been loving Rampage until I started running with MFers, and seeing how broken MFing still is.

You say you're competitive... the secret then is to set objective goals. Your goal of being "better" is subjective. No matter what you do, there will always be someone "better".

Yes, there's that stigma, but I'm not insecure enough to let that affect me. I play PoE like a single-player game these days, lately even without global chat on, so I just do my own thing, work on my goals (those achievements), and have fun. It's much more relaxing without the time pressure. (And in five weeks the new Borderlands game comes out -- I'll play that without fretting over falling way behind in the temporary leagues.)

As for races, yes, I like them for their bite-sized format. Sadly, the way the schedule is set-up doesn't typically work so well for me. I can't just drop work because there's a race, or get up at 3am to participate. I could, but it's not reasonable. Chris mentioned some fundamental changes to races in the announcement yesterday/today, saying the changes are aimed at casual players, so I'm curious to see what they'll do. I'd love races to be treated like daily quests so that you can do them whenever you can within a set period of time (but then some people will race with ten accounts).

I'm willing to bet it is a joke, probably a MFer that doesn't want to get nerfed. ;)
I used to put my characters down here.

The list became so long, and I've had to DELETE over 50 characters to make room for others, that I've stopped updating it.

#firstworldproblems give me character slots free or WAY cheaper GGG ;(

*nods* I understand where you're coming from. It (competition) is actually the reason why I decided to drop out of the temporary leagues. I realized that every time in the past three league sessions I played crazily much, burnt myself out, and felt it's all futile because I play solo and also don't want to spend time on trading. So after a few weeks, everything annoyed me: traders, inability to sustain a map pool, the huge benefits grouping gets in this game, and so forth, and I started to feel resentful toward the game and how it carters to the top-1% (or less). Same happened again in Rampage: masters grind, again issues with map drops, etc.

My solution, for myself, was to set time-independent goals, like the achievements (not challenges), and I may race a bit in the next race season and try to get more points than I did the season before. Just stuff that is independent of other people, and something I can also do in Standard or HC (with no trading, it doesn't really matter that the economies are ruined). I think for me this is really the only way I can enjoy the game in the long run. But that's just me.

for me racing was always the only way to have fun because it was short, you could only do one type of race, no standard/hardcore problems, you got rewarded even for not doing all the races al the time, but now after all the maphacks, illegal flask/logout macros poe isnt a competetive game anymore,

This is the funniest thing ever lol.

Did you know that 70-80% of the players play Standard?

Source?
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
Chris posted this info right after the past league started.

That's wrong. Last time stats were posted was more like this. 55% ambush, 25% invasion, 20% standard, 1%> hardcore.

So, where do the players go after the league ends?

55% + 20% = 75%

Ambush + standard the same thing.
Yeah, there is no doubt in my mind that the temporary softcore league is always the busiest place. It is also the default selection for new players, and the most attractive place in terms of new features. Pretty sure that this is how GGG wants it. Doesn't prevent me from having fun in Standard right now (til 90, then HC), but I'd never play there if trading mattered to me or if I wanted to play with others.

This is about active players, by the way, not (inactive) characters. Standard certainly has the most characters.
