Lvl 77, out of maps, Back to docks? yea right

Seems like a great time to re-impliment an improved version of Maelstrom of Chaos to suppliment maps. Have it be level 64 and offer increased item quantity for each chaos gate progressed through up to a 5-10 gate cap.

Such a move would only be met with praise, i guarantee it.

Ran about 20-25 maps today and my stash of maps has remained about the same....maybe increased by one or two.

Now that I've run a few more maps I think I can say that the drop rate for maps feels about the same as it was in closed beta.

edit: I have to ask if the people having issues with maps are running them white?

That's how this works. High demand and low supply so the prices will be high. Same reason 4l whites are selling, which will go away and why stuff like marohi are selling for 100+ gcps. In a month or two these prices will all stabilize and be much cheaper. If you need it NOW, you'll pay for it.

I did not intend to post again in this topic but above quote forced me. The day something as atrocious as daily quests would be introduced to PoE would be the day I quit this game. I got sick and tired of daily quests in MMOs, I sure as hell do not want them to be part of ARPG genre, and PoE in particular.

The randomness of instances is not nearly enough to keep a person from getting bored. Docks will always have void doggies and flicker mobs and skeleton archers - even the positioning is very similar after you run it 30 times. Same goes for EACH and EVERY zone.

So yes, I don't care if it's a feature you find in MMOs, nobody forces you into it. I say let PoE take whatever is best from each genre. Keeping high level players in high level content should be a priority. Without the maps, the game is just finished once you're unlocking the Sceptre in Merciless. But PoE is a persistent online world, that wants to give players a reason to come back to it daily.

More content... less grind. It's all I am suggesting. Randomise some dailies. Send us on random missions in some zones, upgrade the enemies to 64-66-ish, give map at the end, or maybe even a choice of orbs/maps. This way you still control level progression, and keep player satisfied until you release new Acts. The Open Beta is extremely young, yet most people that knew about PoE already "finished" the game. We need something non-grindy, non-boring to do.

Not sure if serious.
I would like to see chaos back in game additionaly to the current map system.
Where maps will be better drops, better exp due to the mods on them, also harder challange.
Chaos will be just more randomied higher level content like before, but maybe increasing level of mobs a bit faster in it (like each next area = + 1 level of mob). Chaos would be the "free maps without mods" for everyone all the time, where if you want real moded map you need to drop it.

EDIT: Also maps should be more rewarding than now.

no, they reduced number of whites, but i guaranty you that i was getting much more rares couple of months ago with aproximately same amount of mf, now i dont get enough to half-decent equip my char...

not to mention that compared to hellgate london or even diablo 2 drop rates(especialy uniques) are really too weak for calling this a lootfest...i mean most of the time boss/rare enemies drop just whites...
i mean i would SORT OF understand this if this game wasnt really a online game that is forcing players to play single player instead of grouping, and if trade channel didnt suck as much as it does now...

Well I had to ask.

There's a lot of players who are new to PoE and even some not so new players never got as far as end-game in closed beta.

Judging by some of the replies in this thread, I assumed that at least some of these people would be oblivious to the mechanics behind map drops and how to maximise the chances for map progression.

Guess I was wrong though.

I rolled all my (few) maps to at least +40% item quantity.

But if you've read this thread right, I haven't been complaining about the drop rate of maps inside of maps, but about the map drop rate OUTSIDE of maps, IE in level 63-64 "farming areas", which there is only one of really considering all the others are either lower level or inconvenient to farm.
