Why don't YOU play HC?

I only started enjoying HC a couple of years ago, but once i started i couldnt stop.

However, I can remember myself looking at the d2 menu, and thinking "Who the hell would ever play a character that could die?"

You could at least start in HC with your buddy, and then switch to standard once someone dies. I played that way with a friend, once he ripped i did too and we just kept going.

i hate the elitist hc behavior such an annoying community who they think they are talking down to us sc ppl its hard enough as it is for us dying up the ladder

i dont play hc for the following reasons

- desyc desyc desyc and desyc
- i have a shitty i-net connection
- there is no builddiveristy in hc
- alt f4 is cheating
- i just suck so hard


did i miss one ?

I play from India, and hence have a third world internet connection. Besides, I play games to relieve stress, not to pile it on harder.

My friend hates HC

i had a burnout in sc and was bored to hell, hc saved this game for me.

I tried hardcore for Beyond and ended up dying in the docks of act 3 normal. So not very far at all. I was very frustrated at my death, because on the one hand it never would've happened if not for desync, but on the other my better judgment was screaming at me to alt-f4 as soon as I started desyncing out around a bunch of flame monsters and Beyond mobs. That I was fire res capped and had HP on most pieces of gear made me cocky.

Hardcore definitely made the gameplay more engaging and in a lot of ways more rewarding than it is in softcore, but a big part of why I enjoy PoE is being able to relax and listen to an audiobook or podcast while farming. Right now I'm enjoying my flame totem witch in Rampage. When I get bored of her maybe I'll give Beyond another shot.

I like to play short HC leagues, but I doubt I'll ever commit to doing a full 3-4 month league knowing that weeks/months of progression could be lost in an instant to some BS. Also, my PC is just a step above white russet potato.

Because my idea of fun is facerolling the game with my eyes closed.

Running around, dying and then warping into a room I've never been into a boss pack.
