PATCH 1.2.0 --Life Nerf-- Explained with math
" Ok and now reasonable: 600-750 chest 300-400 shield 300 helm 100 gloves 100 boots 20-30 ring 20-30 ring 30-60 belt 30-40 amulet Obviously you will have 12k ES with PERFECT STATS. It's like saying oh look at my ton of hp with a LEGACY KAOM and 600 str and +100 life on every gear piece. Or do you think 1k es chests / 500 es shields and 200 es boots/gloves are 2c each? In ambush 200 es gloves were like 5-6 ex easy. [2.2] The Vampire - Tanky 2H Axe Slayer Duelist - /view-thread/1611662 Last edited by Mannoth#4185 on Aug 14, 2014, 4:14:00 PM

Did you do the math with normal players in mind too or just the top 5% with their OP life stats gear?

@DirkAustin
You can find the calculation breakdown in my thread with a medium geared player (80~ life per item) and different variations of STR (cause life bonus). You need to be more clear to who are you addressing :> [2.2] The Vampire - Tanky 2H Axe Slayer Duelist - /view-thread/1611662

Pretty terrible change tbh, GGG don't seem to know what they are doing with this patch, so many things are fucked up with the tree and these HP changes it's just fucking ridiculous.
They wanted to give us the same HP with less HP nodes, but they nerfed HP nodes so you need just as many to get the same HP, it's a fucking waste of time and all it does is nerf life, they can't possibly of thought this met their goals. Meanwhile ES is OP as fuck, really, who came up with all these ES nodes? May as well of just put a node in the witch starting area that gives 400% ES and removed every other ES node. " You seem to be using the same base life value for both the pre-1.2.0 and post-1.2.0 calculations. A level 100 pre-1.2.0 character should have 400 less base life than a level 100 post-1.2.0 character. | |
" oh thanks for pointing that out, will make change |
|
" Exactly what I was thinking, if you apply the NEW life per level to the OLD nodes of course it's going to be stronger... Last edited by Onirinaute#6720 on Aug 14, 2014, 4:19:56 PM

Hmmm...after rebuilding my Double Strike Ranger here is what ended up happening:
Currently: HP: 4332 MP: 1904 Evasion: 9822 Armor: 1717 Dps: 8637 Auras: Grace, Hatred, Clarity, Tempest Shield, and Arctic Armor Life Regen: 108.3 hp/sec Mana Regen: 132.5 mp/sec After: HP: 4243 MP: 1986 Evasion: 10441 Armor: 2881 Dps: 10923 Auras: Same auras Life Regen: 133.3 Mana Regen: 127 Keep in mind I used this: https://poebuilder.com/character/AAAAAgIAm40ILu2DGY7TfgBePeJI7niut9OjitfLVvruDtaKfyt311uv3Q38xUp9h3ZnoHTxGNvlxdd-wQchYAUtQKB07XrvYEuE2VjbU9-bg4TvR34UUmVN-TPn6q_rlwYaj_ba-wkZii2DFr8Pq1M1m7Wmf-1BsbO1SLb3KwoRL-tjmZpd8hGWDkhJUfDVlS4HHo_6cLvsGNsLgh6IQsHFOrPV-MS4bmm-p8AP0k2sr_66fXWBOm1KiO0bqmFS706nNMCc44SdqjY9bIxirA== To get the after information and things may not be entirely correct. Assuming that the information is close to correct then I lost some Hp but I gained some damage for roughly the same survivability that I had before. Maybe I just got lucky. Not sure if other people's builds were in sections of the tree that had life nodes removed and the life then became unrecoverable. |

The math is that you would have 12425.28 hp. Only takes like 2 seconds to open calc and remove the 400 life.
The difference between the health totals is extremely minimal at about 10%. Honestly there aren't that many nerfs this patch (disregarding the crown of eyes builds). Things just need to be rebuilt to specialize in what they should do, which is something that GGG has always aimed toward when making new passive trees. |

yea, after fixing the calculation it's not too bad.
