Twitch music streaming rules
Sadly this voluntary execution of the law by twitch and their new 3rd party search algorithm (not ordered by the DMCA) is easy to abuse by patent trolls. Furthermore it is faulty on many places, muting video game soundtracks themselves (even if not protected) and streamers singing some songs in their silly minutes.
Cheap move by twitch to save on support staff for copyright infringement cases. Luckily it seems that they pulled back the shitty search algorithm a bit. Had no issues watching VoDs in the recent days. However people monetizing their stream with copyrighted music for which they had no authorization and crying around now are silly. They are artists themselves, especially they should understand that being paid for work as such should be warranted. Last edited by Nightmare90#4217 on Aug 12, 2014, 8:00:31 PM

" I understand that streamers monetize their streams, but 99% of the people that tune in to those streams is to see someone play a game or a video. I don't tune in to Baker's stream or ZiggyD or Kripp to hear what new song he is playing. wtf. I mean, the fact that I hear a random song should be enough perk for the artist that made that song. The streamer didn't have to play that song in his stream. It's a benefit to the artist that his song is being played. I, in turn, listen to the song and go: Hmm, good song, maybe I want to buy the album. Now, that this is considered illegal, new artists won't be discovered so easily. |
