Twitch music streaming rules

It's copyrighted music . End of story

Now if useing music like that for your own enjoyment it's fine , or even a few people lissiening no big deal.

But people make money off twitch , some people make a fair bit , So if part of the entertainment you are giving to your viewers is music by a artist , then that artist SHOULD get a cut of the profits you make. Just like on Tv showes , radio , public live events , Ect.

Playing music in public is fine , playing music in public and useing it for entertanment whare you make money and give nothing to the orignal musics artist is wrong.

Edit :

This is just the start by the end of the year music will be monitured on live streams and people who use copyrited music on stream will be muted , or perhaps even shutdown.

Luckily smaller streaming sites will appear now to fill the void so if it comes to that point with twitch they will lose a lot of their streamers/viewers.

problem is that they don't make any difference between small and big streamers and there is no easy setup for monetized streams to be able to play music other than small selections or single artists

Or streamers will just stop putting music on their streams and the watchers will listen to their own music.

Yeah, but sometimes, streamers have music I never heard of before. Many times, I've used shazam to catch the song playing on the stream or etc.

It's a way to promote different music.
I think it's a fantastic change , First off artists should be getting compinsated if you are using thare music to make money , witch is excatly what you are doing when you have thare music on stream.

Secound i don't have to mute twitch ,good gawd some of the music you kids lissen to now a days is shit

And that would be fine if the artist got a small cut , like they do when you do the same thing on radio . Even small ass tiny university stations pay royaltys on the music they use. and you can lissen to it for free, lots on online radio stations are the same , they pay royaltys. twitch streamers do not that's the problem.

If no 1 made money of twitch no 1 would care , but people do.

I don't agree one bit with that statement as I've said earlier nobody goes to a stream to listen to music but it's a nice extra for sure. What would be a fair middle ground is that the artist name and song title is displayed on the stream so the streamer would be promoting the artists.

The solution now is far from good and it will not help the music business in anyway or form. But greed is greed. That is shown that they don't differentiate a normal streamer from a partnered streamer.

Well since when dose the music industry make choices based on the artists , coustomers best interes ?

Never that i know of.

I mean it's a really hard call in a way for new struguling artists.

On the 1 hand ... ANY exposure of your music is a good thing , it gets your name and music out thare and perhaps people who hear it will go buy your album or come see your show . The problem is that "now evreything is free" on the internet. So the small revenu streams that starting out artists use to have is gone now. Also it's getting much harder to even have the original artits be credited for music so more offten than not they are getting nothing for something that alot of people are lissening to.

Now if twitch was a 100 % free thing then cool , id have no problem with people using music for free . that they found for free online on thare twitch stream. But that's not the case , not only dose the streamer get a cut of the money created from views but twitch dose as well + they sell advrtizing witch is another thing that they are making money off . If the music is being used as part of the entertainment .. then the artist SHOULD get a cut. Also important to note that this change dose not do this.

I added a bit more to my prior post i guess while you where writing your reply as mine was a bit one sided at first. :)

To reply to your reply. On that we can agree for sure I really hope they make some kind of solution where u could use some kinda music streaming solution that was part of twitch so that big streamers that do earn a lot from streaming would automatically pay royalties while small streamers like myself won't be penalized by this but would still advertise on stream the artists we are listing to

We can hope that it will be better incorporated later but this first change was really not a good implementation.

Haven't read this being mentioned... Playing the copyrighted music, live or on vod would constitute unauthorised public broadcasting by the copyright holder. AND That is the law.
