" Don't need to use spectral throw to use Wrath. You can even use it with Double Strike/Reave/Ground Slam - it uses a melee skill, it's fucking melee. Deal with it. I really think PA should be placed in the bottom half of the tree to give odd builds like caster marauder or duelist some love. I feel like PA where it's at is redundant and conflicts with the witch/caster/int/ES ecosystem especially if GGG balances the self caster and spell damage around it.

Hatred and Added Fire Damage work on spells too. You just need a spell that does physical damage, like Ethereal Knives. Granted, there aren't that many physical spells out there, but I'm just pointing out that Hatred/Added Fire were not made exlusively for attacks.

If you put on your full plate mail, and I throw hundreds of toothpicks at you, you'll basically not feel it. If someone catapults a whole tree at you, don't expect the Armour to prevent as much of the damage. |

EK is a bit of a... weirdo. You have a point, and I think it only serves to further mine. If you want to be a caster AND stack the more modifiers that are easily attainable by attack builds, you will be extremely limited in your choice of skills.
I don't want the solution to be "just add physical damage to more spells". To me, physical spells are a true oddity that don't really make a lot of logical sense in the game. Really, if you think about it, EK is an attack. It's only a spell because it has that keyword. Kind of a cop-out really. If the point of my OP wasn't clear, my main curiosity is regarding the sacrifice and danger aspect of getting good multipliers for spell damage. In the current environment, it seems extremely unfair to ask casters to go that far out of their way to get good DPS. Especially given how frustrating it is to get good caster gear.
