Doryani's catalyst

Hi , so I just wanted to know , is there a reason behind making Doryani's catalyst sceptre required lvl 75 ? i mean isnt it too high ? its really hard to find a good average-cost mace untill getting to lvl75 , this way we have to spend alot of currency to get a mace that we gonna use just for 10-15lvls... so is there a reason ? :)

Also lvling from 60-70 mightnot be a big problem but 70-75 would be really difficult without the doryani's because the build depends on it

levelling these last 10-15lvl will take you longer than the first 75. Totally worth it. :)
Doryani is crazy, you can even dual wield it for a CoC build lol.

Ignore what the first few people said about it being best in slot, that isn't really true for any build. What the weapon is good for is it is the single best price/performance item in the game by far, and everyone should probably own one as a result. That level requirement is the only downside to that massive upside. You can use it in just about any build, even though better items exist for just about any build.

You can use it for your self-cast or totem build, but there are better Rare wands out there.

You can use it for your phys based ground slam, spectral throw or other attack build, but there are better Rare 1h phys weapons out there.

You can use it for a reasonably effective Ele Buzzsaw build due to that ele damage, but there are better Rare Foils out there.

You can use it for your elemental attack builds like Molten Strike, but once again, you can find better Rare 1h weapons for that job.

You can use it for an effective Cast on Crit build, but there are better Rare Daggers out there.

You can use it in your RF or Searing Bond build, and it may be best in slot there, but a Searing Touch will still probably win as far as Searing Bond is concerned.

The list goes on and on and on, but there's always a high rolled Rare weapon that beats it. What makes Catalyst special is it's an affordable way to get a viable weapon for just about any build. Which I think is overall good for the game, as it lessens the gap between the rich and poor players, and lets those poorer players still get to try out an almost as good version of all those fun expensive builds that the richer players keep posting on the forums. But never say it is best in slot, its' not, it's just very good in slot.

That being said it's availability compared to its utility makes me thing that the 1.2 patch may rebalance the item a bit. Seeing as the item is good enough that most people don't even bother considering any other weapon(See first 3 posts in this thread for proof) once they have one, because they don't need to go for anything better, but something better definitely does exist.

It is best in slot though. At least for any ignite/burn build. It's impossible for a 1h rare to beat it since it's not possible to get as much ele damage.

For Detonate Dead, yeah, best in slot, but Detonate Dead is a completely broken skill that I expect(or at least hope) to be heavily rebalanced in a couple weeks, so it's a bit of a moot point, although it'll probably still be best in slot for Detonate Dead regardless of rebalance, it'll just be a question of whether Detonate Dead will still matter at that point. Ignite is about getting the highest possible damage you can in a single hit. In which case you'll probably want that 100% Spell Crit a Dagger/Wand can give you, and having 10-20% less Ele damage is more than a fair trade off for any other Ignite build though.
That ele dmg leech makes this weapon.

Without it it is just ok weapon (above average as phys mace tho). But with that leech it is second to none.

It is sad to see that this weapon fits almost all my builds and performs better than rares i collected trough 1.5 years..
