Trade Hate: Which one takes more skill?
" That is factually not the case. People across the forums and all the SFL comments argue about every facet about how SFL would work: Can you trade with friends? Can you party with friends? How would loot be distributed in parties? Should drop rates be adjusted? Should characters on the same account still share a stash? Should crafting be altered to be more amenable to SF play? And so, and so forth... and this is just the tip of the iceberg. Most of them haven't even accounted for the next thing would beg for afterward: races. Sorry, but it's simply not in this game's interest to go down this road. People can play SF through self-imposed rules and discipline. This has the added benefit that if they ever get tired of this style, they can simply rejoin the rest of the community. There is nothing forcing them to engage in trade right now if they wanted to play SF without adjusting drops/crafting anyway, so there is no point in making a whole league for it. Simple fact is this: GGG could get a lot more done with their time and resources by not devoting them to a SFL. |

" I am not an avid forum user but it would seem to be self explanatory. SF means SF so no you can't trade with anyone. Why would you not be able to party lol? permanent allocation of course... Obviously with the absence of trade drop rates could be increased. Of course they can, it's still an item that you found is it not? As you will bring in less orbs than a trader, yes (unless orb drop rate is greatly incrased) Do people really argue about these things? They all seem very self explanatory in the name 'Self Found League'. The only changes would be binding of items so that drop rates could increase, any of the other players preferences, such as playing solo vs. grouping, would not affect the server or any other players so they would be at your discretion. |

" Yes. " Most ppl answered this with no in this thread. Why would GGG want to make the SFL then more appealing with either increased crafting results or increased droprates of orbs for all players in comparison to the normal leagues? How would this not be detrimental to the normal leagues? I know everyone of you SFL proponents does want these increased results. You simply deny it oftenly to not get attacked by SFL opponents. But we both know its necessary in order to make such a SFL a good experience (and this is what GGG would want to do). Therefore it would pretty much kill the now existing leagues because too many players rather go for increased droprates than continuing to trade. Then we kinda get/have diablo 3 here and no d2/poe flavour left. I quote again: " D3 simply switched so self-found because it had nothing else to offer. This way they at least could satisfy one part of their playerbase and solved several balancing issues at the same time (lazyness). Noone who complained about AH actually wanted no trading at all. But when you have a game that is designed around boring uniques that are nothing more than (always) better rares and these are available all at the auction house for little to nothing, you get the problem to explain players why exactly they should continue to play this game. " Most of those things get argued about because the anti SFL people use them as reasons to attack the wanting of a SFL. Id be fine with what you listed, or no changes at all but no trade. As I suspect a lot of us would be.. His point is just.. wrong. IGN

" Yes it seems the biggest argument that people have against it is that it isn't something that THEY personally would use and so GGG should not waste their resources on something THEY don't want. Extremely self centered IMO. If it were reversed I wouldn't be the one saying sorry GGG doesn't need to devote any resources to your trading server, we're just fine with SF only (because that's what I personally enjoy) |
|
" As you saw in the snippet that you quoted I said IF droprates were increased then crafting results didn't need to be. If these parameters sound more appealing than standard league parameters why are you against them? For those that enjoy the act of trading the standard league will be more appealing. But for those that do not the SFL will be more appealing. The only thing that will be 'detrimental' is that you will no longer have people like me that don't know what going rates are at and so overpay people like you in trades. So sorry there will be less people for you to take advantage of in standard. But there will be a new league with new options that many players will enjoy more than standard. |

" Well what I wrote is " This either or means .... either or. In the end it is the same tho, no matter which will be increased or if both and just half the way (it stays always the same). Higher droprates = more appealing; simple as this as trading requires extra efforts, knowledge and skill which higher droprates (or crafting results = same) do not require while grinding mindlessly. " Knowing when to use those orbs is just as much a skill as trading.. IGN

It really isn't. Not even close.

" This doesnt change the equation: trading = extra work, increased droprate = no extra work Even I would switch to SFL then because I am actually also a bit lazy keeping track of prices and all that stuff that comes with trading. Hell I would not even need 25% of the stashtabs that I have now anymore because I could simply dump all items to the vendor if I dont see me using them at anytime and I cant give them away or sell them. I wonder how ppl manage to stay in trade-1 all day for weeks and monthes. They deserve getting something out of it I guess. For me slow pace trading is still fun and I dont want to miss it in PoE. I sell my findings in the forum-shop, getting some value out of it and here and then when I find a good deal I flip an item. No need to be in the trade chats all day spamming ppl, lol. But it remains being some extrawork and risk that should pay off when doing it successfully. Last edited by LSN#3878 on Jul 25, 2014, 12:24:19 PM
