Diablo?

At a first glance back in Jan 13, the game looked like some kind of enhanced mod to Diablo 2.

It proved to be much more than that, for better and for worse.

I dont see it as a what D3 should have been. D3 should have been D3, as in, worth being called D3. Not that abomination of a D3 version they sold. Which was basically a beta version until their equally high priced expansion came around.

D3 vs POE threads suck btw, im sick of them. Can people post this stuff on the D3 forum please?

I posted on this forum cuz I had questions for the devs of this game. Not that it matters since I forgot the all important rule that no questions ever get answered by the devs/mods that could be incriminating to the company in any way.

But of course in remaining silent they have answered the question anyways because if they had nothing to hide then they would have no issue addressing my questions. Not that I care, it was never my intention to rip into the company for rippin off D1-2; I just wanted to know why they did it and what their vision was with this game.

You're right though, D3 was complete crap until the expansion came out, I quit shortly after release when the repair costs killed my ability to progress through the game. I'm getting miffed at D3 recently due to the fact that item rolls are causing me to grind hours/days to achieve nothing. The grfx(imo) are too bright and cartoonie for a game of that type. But sadly Bliz is too cheap to invest in a new grfx engine that isn't the same one they've been using since Wc3.
There's been a lot of talk here, and other places throwing around the terms 'ripoff' and 'clone'. Personally, I'd say that PoE has enough to differentiate itself from Diablo in the ARPG genre. However, I wonder where the line is between homage, and clone / ripoff?

In answer to the OP questions, the devs have said before that the character inventory scarcity is by design. It was meant to force choices about item pick ups. What do you value most when you bring things back to town? It was also designed so that it broke up gameplay enough, but not too often when it comes to decent gear worth going back to town with. It is actually more spacious than it used to be, because several items were made to take up less space.

Personally, since then, I haven't had any annoyance with the inventory space beyond what would be expected from high drop maps etc.

If you go back a ways into the history, you can read about the devs inspirations and goals when starting the project. If I recall, the project was started before information about D3 came out, so there wasn't much of the 'response creation'. They were just fans who had some ideas they wanted to put into a game they would want to play.

Have you removed Asus ROG/GameFirst yet?
If you ask me....I liked these APRG games in this exact order

1. Diablo 1
2. Titan Quest
3. Diablo 2
4. PoE
5. Diablo 3
6. NoX
7. Torchlight 2
8. Sacred 1
9. Torchlight 1
10. Sacred 2

The best part is, that I never really liked the multiplayer aspect involved in this genre. I always liked the singleplayer experience. And when I say multiplayer I mean the internet. LAN parties or hamachi games with friends all night long in the same room/house drinking beer and eating pizza while playing all together was a total different experience. ( I know its multiplayer aswell. but I made my point )
But the LAN parties back in the days... oh boy, that was magic. Something memorable.

I'm looking forward to try Grim Dawn soon which should be something like Titan Quest 2 which is my all time favorite game. Still playing it via Steam. But waiting for price drop. Not going to do a beta tester bunny to someone who wants 25€ from me to do him a favor. I bought PoE beta key for 10$, thats a fair price for 2 acts and 4 difficulties.

Ahhh, sweet, sweet, Diablo :)

I played far too many hours of both 1&2, and after making an LMP incinerate, I worked out what made these games so amazing for me.
I think it was mainly the sounds, they made up for the graphics in so many ways and I honestly believe still do today! The sound of the zombies brain slopping out, the crunch of bone, and yelps of imps all stringed along so well with that oh, so famous sound track meant you didn't need to see it, you just knew what was happening.

This is as close you gunna get my lad, she's a great ride but no throne stealer :)
What other popular game to a average person can you compare the game too?
If I had a fanasty rpg-action adventure type game and people kept saying it was good/better/different from skyrim would be normal and complimentary.

just remember, the better the artist the harder they bite.

better artist. harder bite.

better.
artist.
harder.
bite.

uniqueness can be gained through exclusivity (that which is most different to all other entities) or inclusivity (that which is the same as all other entities). however, grammarians had it wrong when they said something is either unique or it's not, it cannot be more unique. this is incorrect, as uniqueness is scaled relatively between these two dichotomies. there cannot be absolute uniqueness through exclusivity (as it maintains the common ground of existence), nor can it be gained through inclusivity (nothing can have all the qualities as all other entities). strangely though, and most children learn this at least by the end of high-school, humans reach uniqueness through inclusivity, because no two humans are born with the exact same set of qualities, not even twins. It is through mimicry that our true differences shine unintentionally. The most unique human is the one that doesn't try to assert his/her unique properties.

the better the artist the harder they bite.

Im planning on playing the 3rd one but it already looks like shit, lol.
It's not a Diablo clone. Not really. Diablo did invent the ARPG style we know today, so in a sense yeah, but it's not really a Diablo clone like other games actually try to clone Diablo. It innovated beyond Diablo.

Also, you shouldnt pick up everything you see and identify everything. You should only pick up some items and identify the items you want to use.
