Dread Thicket and Catacombs
Good morning from Germany,
I am currently enjoying my single-target-hth Shadow in hc. As I don't have much time to play for longer stretches of time right now I am just running docks in normal a little bit. However I have ignored Catacombs and Dread Thicket as I have already fully cleared them once with another char. Or do I miss something? To me those two areas are about the most neglected ones in the game. I think GGG really misses an opportunity to give them a more special character. For example I alway enjoy the Weaver's chamber. Please help me out if I seem to fail to see something important here. Cheers, T. The light at the end of the tunnel is nothing but a muzzleflash.

Catacombs is one of my most run areas in merciless with it's 67 level area and 68 level corrupted side zone (when it spawns), also the scribe racks can drop maps.

Yep, Catacombs > Docks, just bring cold resist. Apart from the higher level, the chance to drop maps from racks and a rather easy Vaal zone boss for mediate to ranged characters, there also is a guaranteed magic mob at the end zone which can drop quite nicely. :-)

Catacombs is one of the most runned areas XD (in Merciless).
Bethesda is known for having good ideas and terrible realization of them. GGG is a Bethesda subsidiary or what?

One of the best things about catacombs is that you never have to backtrack like in docks. I always get angry party members in docks for TPing out once i get to a dead end and the time it would take to run back outweighs the time it would take to remake the instance.

Catacombs were never > docks and probably never will. The latter is the highest density location in game, flooded with champs and rares. A char in the range of 65-70 gains more experience in docks, than in catacombs, no matter docks are lower lvl, it's also safer, runs are faster, rewards are better.
OP, people often avoid dread thicket, as there are nasty mobs, like chaos snakes and heavy hitting bears. If you insist that much to choose one of the zones in the description, then pick catacombs. BTW catacombs is one of the most unrewarding leveling zones. This is a buff © 2016 The Experts ™ 2017 Last edited by torturo#7228 on Jul 10, 2014, 5:01:52 AM

I think vanilla ice cream is better than chocolate. Chocolate sucks, so unrewarding, waste of time. Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me.

" This is a personal opinion (which is fine) as opposed to a scientific fact. I love running Catacombs after overkilling docks per character. Catacombs contains higher ilvl gear too. If your clear speed is as good in Catacombs as it is in Docks then run Cata imo. Generally a lot of blues and you wont come across big expanses with only a few mobs like sometimes in Docks. BUt both are fine. Dread thicket is a bit of a gooseberry and probably needs atleast a side quest to invite people in against the risks it holds. Just for try for see and for know -2013!

Docks has way more mobs, that isn't an opinion. Therefor, docks has more drops, also fact.
However Cata drops are of higher level. It just depends what you are after; XP; Docks > Cata (go run a few of both and see what you get) leveling gems; Docks > cata more Rare drops; Docks > Cata Higher ilvl drops; Cata > Docks As far as corrupted areas, I think Docks is easier for finding the entrance than Cata, but Catas boss is easier IMO. I hate that snake, but your mileage may vary. Dread Thicket is too low of level, has fewer mobs and are typically of a variety that are annoying in tight spaces (build depending). |

" Mine too, they also drop very nice base items for 20% Alchemy recipe. "I accept Nujabes as my Savior."
