THE RATES OF CURRENCY MAKE NO SENSE

Use this to see the actual rates: http://poexchange.info/rates/standard/

Click on each rate to see an even more exact rate. These are the rates people are buying and selling for, so they are the 'real' rates.

those are even worse, the scourings and fusings are 1:1? and the fuses are 2.02:1 for chaos? chisels 1:1 for fuses?

and a lot of people don't play the game, they just flip things around, currency first and later items and getting rich 100x faster than you, but do they have fun while doing that?

I wouldnt

maybe not, but then they also ruin the rest of the fun to the rest of the players
also another problem i see is that people don't trade things unless they have a profit, that's not how it's suposed to be

ok, i don't know for sure but i bet the people that make these rates are really bad at math
the info i got about the current rates:
1ex=30c=40fus=11regrets
1c=2fus (wat)
1 regret=2c (double wat)

this is simple math to figure out the right rate, people are dumb as fuck in the trade chat, and are sometimes sarcastic when i point this out

regret=chaos rate

30/11=2.72727272....
so the somewhat right rate would be 10:27, or if you just want to sell one 1:3

fus=chaos rate

40/30=1.333333....
it's 1:1 but that makes no sense so the rightish rate would be 13:10

and the rates i just written can be abused by vendoring stuff, the current rates can be abused too because you don't take into account the decimal part so bit by bit someone gets the advantage, for example if you sell 1 chaos for 2 fus, and you sell 10 chaos for 20 fus you just got 7 fus for free. So there is no way that these are the right rates nor the rates that people use, because both make no sense.... can we return to the old open beta rates please?

I too find this illogical. If one goes by the exalt trading rates as the standard, like you did, all the lower currency ratios are skewed. I don't mind though. They can be used as a one way street to increase your riches.

i have to have a standard, and those are the ones that i see most of the time

Was not aware that you could sell chaos to the vendor for fuses. What exactly are you basing your "math" on?
I think the biggest part you're missing is that it's actually very, very difficult to get the 2:1 rates you are talking about. Yes, people post WTB Fuse 2:1c all the time, but it's *really* hard to find someone willing to do that trade. It just gets posted like that by flippers because it's the nearest round number, I'm pretty sure.

im basing it on the current rates which people are trading currencies on

while i agree it's really hard but there's always someone that bites the bait, then they do the same to somebody else and so on until most of them only knows 2 fus = 1c
if they wanted to round they could always just do 10:13, or 3:4, but even then this rate is wrong due to vendoring orbs to the vendor cheaper and selling more expensive

Sure, but those people then also don't "know" that Fuse is 45:1ex either. They may have seen it on the Noticeboard or Trade Chat but they ignore it because it's not within their trading range.

So it's less a question of math and more a question of people not making the effort to actually learn the market. Some people just want to play and not think about it.
