The PoE Paradox

You're trying to make a point without really thinking about it imho. A computer game is all about joy of use and (long term) motivation. Furthermore, I've clearly stated that 'I hate myself for not loving the game'. So whom am I blaming here?

You call it the PoE paradoxon, while its the Kahzin paradoxon. If you dont like to play a game...dont play it. Thats no paradoxon nor any bad thing. Its just normal. I also sometimes dont feel to play a certain game, even if I know its a great game....so what!

There is no specific thing that really bothers me. Sure, I'm not a big fan of SoTV, but I don't really care about it. Progression could be a little bit faster, but I can live with that. Besides of these things I pretty much like every other detail about the game. The paradox is that I want myself to play the game but once I logged on my motivation is just gone. And I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one with these mixed feelings. As already mentioned this has been discussed a couple of time. So yeah, for me it's the PoE paradox.
I feel like most of the people that stay around and play a lot have gotten an incredible unique that can be built around or sold for tons of exalts so another build can be made. It's a lot easier to play and love the game when you have powerful items or tons of currency. I came back for a few weeks and have been playing a lot more, but already feel the impending burnout coming. Pretty depressing knowing that you'll never get a nice unique and consequently never have enough currency to buy uniques that are desired.
Well, when you play games it happens. Maybe you have to play another game for a while, and later come back for more.

On the bigest problems, are that if you dont have a nice build, at 65-70 the games becomes very difficult. You can lost all your expirience in a moment...
I call it "the dream".

Why? Because I still dream about what PoE could have been. I still make new characters, hoping that this suddenly is a game that may reward you with something. I still dream about that feeling of finding a really good item. You know that feeling? That feeling that belongs in an aRPG? Had that once in PoE, when the game suddenly decided to reward me with a 200+ DPS axe, which I yolo exalted to 300 DPS.

But, several characters past level 80, thousands of hours grinding end game maps, Dominus and Piety - still, just one item. Two exalteds. One eternal. 0 devines.

Some people may call me unlucky, but when a game is designed this way, we're not talking about luck anymore. We're talking about game design.

So, when you NEVER have the gear to make any build feel the slightest bit of power full, the fun part of theory crafting is also starting to vanish.

Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

You should trade, game is balanced with it in mind after all :)
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
Strangely I have this feeling about melee and magic builds. I play nearly only bow builds since they are a lot of fun for me. I theorize a lot about magic and melee builds and want to try them. But when it comes to actually playing them, they get boring fast as it can get.

My experience with PoE is that it's a game you have to devote yourself to, to some extent and more than most other games (even of its genre).

For me, if you hop off the train, it's a difficult game to pick back up and enjoy in short irregular and discrete sessions.

My best times with Poe have been when I've thrown myself into it with great gusto. It's the opposite of Candy Crush (thank goodness you may say).

Now that I'm taking some time away from it, I am also finding it a difficult game to want to pick up again given the enormous investment of time and emotional energy it requires.

Your highest level character is 62.

I don't know why you don't enjoy the game. I'm not judging, it's not for everyone.

Maybe you should try to identify what you like about the game and what you find frustrating about it.

This has nothing to do with anyones ability to judge a game by their own opinion. Also, profile stalking sucks.
The best way to play this game is for a couple weeks every 4 months when the challenge leagues come out to see how far you can get in hardcore.

If you are just trying to grind the same build for months straight in softcore than of course you are going to get bored really fast.
