LOL mtx pricing
" The game isn't free since anyone (Correction: there are a tiny % of players who do actually swap accounts, so I can't say 100% of "anyone") who takes this game in any seriousness must purchase 20-30 dollars worth of stash tabs just for basics like Chaos, Alch, Chance vendor recipes. Further exasperating space are (basic) things like collecting all uniques, or setting aside various items for other specs - or collecting rings, amulets or other items for the 5x vendor trades... the game is completely designed around (nearly) forcing players into purchasing stash tabs. You lose every ounce of credibility to anything, really, if you want to try to counter that argument... because then clearly you are just arguing for the sake of arguing. Personally: I can give and take in any argument - but I know clearly when not to belabor a point which is: POE is NOT free to anyone who is actively playing it since they actually have to buy stash space. COUNTER ARGUING the tiny % of the population who are running multiple accounts just for space. The truth is that the vast majority of people who took this game seriously just bought the tabs. Anyways. Aside from that fact... the MTX price points are ridiculously high. Go on Steam and check out full scale - better graphics and game design than this one - and see for yourself price comparisons. The VALUE for what you get from their MTX vs other game related value - Steam, or League Of Legends or, really, any other F2P model out there. You simply get MORE VALUE for the dollar you give the company vs what you get here with GGG. |

Oh, this again. Go to this thread if you want to debate that:
http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/939736 If you feel you get more value elsewhere I cant change your outlook. I'm very satisfied with the product I got...for free. Edit: For the record, GGG's stance on the cost of the game. " I'm not debating anything about pay to win. I'm saying that calling POE "free to play" when the emphasis of the game surrounds collecting sets of items, with space ridiculously dis-proportioned to the items you collect - where the very design around their "end game" content involves limiting players carrying loot - 6 loads of loot to be more specific - before the area becomes permanently shut down to you... One of the main game focus is clearly on "space" - be that bag or stash space. Not to mention - again - the vast space needed just to get currencies from NPC vendor trades. I repeat again: anybody who is taking this game seriously will buy 20-30 dollars worth of stash tabs. For you to try to say that I should just suck it up princess about MTX pricing because the game is FREE TO PLAY - well - you are incredibly wrong in that sentiment. You need a new argument. PS - even on this account only holding a leveling set of gear I nearly bought 5 bucks for a couple extra tabs. |

" Yes maybe u are statisfied and happy with the prices and yes the game is free we all know that. But maybe you dont understand that every free to play game has its own payment model. PoE is one of the more expensive ones if u decide to support. Sure i understand those people who invested hundreds of cash for exampel this people with high supporter packs but the most people cant aford something like that. The supporter packs prices doesnt matter, they have every right to cost much. If u like the game u are playing go ahead ans support your game. But the normal MTX shop should be fair and open for everyone. Sure there are some trashy MTX for cheap but in comparison to others they are just not worth to buy them. In germany 60$ for a full charackter upgrade, 25$ for a glwoing weapon or even 20$ for a helmet skin is not fair. Lower the prices and more people will buy something. If they buy cosmetic mtx they will have more fun. If players are happy they invite friends and the player base increase and more people will buy MTX. On long time scenario that means more cash. But who cares i´m just a random nobody in PoE. |

" You are describing a Pay to Win Model. PoE is not P2W. I pointed you in the right direction if you care to discuss the issue further. Edit: I checked again just to be sure, nowhere in your OP do you mention stash tabs. Your beef was with the cost of a cosmetic set. You brought the stashtabs strawman into the discussion when your original point got refuted. Don't forget to drink your milk 👌 Last edited by TheWretch#7848 on Jul 4, 2014, 4:15:18 PM

" An example "Pay To Win" is paying 5 dollars to get a MF boost for 1 hour. Just so you know. I don't consider the lack of space and necessity to purchase stash space "Pay To Win" - it's smart marketing. Also I noticed you don't refute what I say. Want to know the verbatim I tell my friends that I invited to play? "You totally need to check out this wicked game - it's very similar to Diablo style ARPG hack and slash - it's free to play and download - just if you get into it, and play for more than 100 hours, expect to drop 20-30 bucks for some stash tabs." Sound pretty similar to what you told your buds you tried to recruit to this game? If you were an honest chap... |

" I actually do. |

The recipe argument is a joke. You don't need to stash anything besides rings and ammys. Maybe a couple belts. Once you have those, you loot the remaining items then vendor. There is no point in hoarding the rest.

Btw, what is the size of LoL playerbase? 3M? They can get away with charging $5, since they have 3M players.
Besides, I actually want a premium set that costs WAY more than ghost flame. Something that looks INSANE. I would be prepared to spend 1k points if I liked it. There should be more cheap mtx, and more expensive ones. |
