What is missing from this post is common sense, diving right into the details without pinpointing anything.

- Did you do a normal speedtest
- Did you have a bad connection in general or only with PoE
- Did you have a bad connection also on other machines or devices?
- Drakien asked you to reboot your router which is always a good suggestion but yet you didn't respond to that at all.

Answering simple questions isolates the issue so you know where to look and you have a stronger case when having to deal with your ISP who will ask you the same questions to make sure it's not your environment.

Sorry if my post wasn't clear enough, but I did answer Drakien's question, also I assumed that posting here it was under the impression that I'm only having these problems while playing PoE, maybe I do have the same issue while off PoE but don't notice it.

Startkables, why do you have be so hostile? I explained in my first post that I am noobish to the technical side of the internet and networks.
I've read through again and noticed I overlooked a typo.

First off all; having your modem replaced by your ISP cannot hurt you and might solve this(assuming they do it right, ask them to bring cables too if necessary)

So you're connected directly to the modem which you have reset and your ISP says there are no issues on their end.
How did you reset your router exactly? You need to take the power off for 10 minutes to reset it properly.

What I also find very notable is that nowhere in this thread I can find information about your connection to the internet in general? It's unclear if you have these connectivity issues in general or only with PoE. Please verify that first by running some speedtest on several sites.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to assume the modem is defective if it's only giving issues with connecting to PoE and that sounds more like a configuration issue.

Can you access the modem via a web interface?

Furthermore, what is also missing from your OP is whether or not you ever have been able to play PoE with a good connection? When did these problems start to occur? Have you just installed the game or? Your lack of information forces me to check your profile to see when you have joined and to assume it did work properly before but these latency issues started to occur just recently.

So more logical to me is considering all of the above, but depending on it too, is to conclude something has changed on your end. And this can be anything from your modem's hardware, the cables that it uses to it's configuration but also your computer!

So you can have your modem replaced and hope that the latency issue goes away. If not you will have to further isolate the issue by testing PoE on another computer in the same network to make sure it's not your current computer itself.

Thank you for your informative post Startkables.

I went ahead and unplugged the modem for 10mins, things seem better but still the occasional dysnc. Afterwards I did a WinMTR on US.login.pathofexile.com, google.com, espn.com and cnn.com, there was 50%-80% packet loss on multiple hops to each test. Dont know if that is of any help.

I can access my modem via web interface.

I will check PoE on my older computer with a fresh windows install.

I haven't replaced anything on my current computer for years, anything I can check specifically?

Hi Jdizzell,

Unfortunately there's not a whole lot we can conclude from your reports of packet loss on multiple hops to other sites, at least not without seeing the reports. Packet loss can appear to spike on certain nodes due to high traffic, but often that's just the node setting trace packets to low priority, and doesn't indicate real loss.

Genuine packet loss tends to propagate down the trace, so if this is occurring on your Path of Exile trace it would be useful to know where it starts.

In addition, your connection is likely to take different routes to get to those servers, as they're in different physical locations, so issues there may not be indicative of issues on the route to Path of Exile and vice versa.

If this loss still starts with your router then I don't think there's much advice we can offer until that's been replaced though.

As I said before I'm connected directly to the modem, are those hops were I get a lot of packet loss controlled by my isp?
It's a lot of poor connection and traffic shaping, so it's really hard to see the accurate results.
