Why not have an option to donate to get into beta?

The thing is that GGG wants to give everyone an equal opportunity to participate in the beta. So whether it is donating to enter or purchasing the key directly from GGG it probably won't happen since they want to be fair to everyone.

I'd donate to GGG for a beta key. But it's very honorable that they don't have that option. To many games are in beta yet have item malls or other ways for you to spend money on them. Very honorable I say. I will gladly fork over some dough once it goes live. Need more indy developers like this that aren't trying to just make a quick buck. I look forward to playing..

The real question is, Would you donate right now, even without a key? These people have been working on this game for how long... spending their own money to make a game that everyone else can play for FREE. I don't need a key to want to donate for the GGG cause.

I'm sure some people would just to show their faith and support the game and the developers either way. I may not donate $20 for it, but I'd probably donate $5 or $10 even if it meant nothing more than a gesture of good will for making a really interesting game I would like to play.

I feel that a true donation button would be fine and possibly even good. Some people really like supporting things they enjoy, however donating to GGG would mean that you do NOT get a higher chance to get into beta. It's a donation, not a purchase.

GGG has, in the past, attempted to allow donations to charity to count towards getting into beta. This didn't work out because of some payment complications.
