" Not only are you building a strawman and comparing apples to vaginas, this is nonsense. The RNG gate mmo's present is the gear necessary to progress. So disregarding how they combine drop RNG with a time gate to keep you playing far longer than you probably should have, what with having proved your ability in a given tier, this is the rough equivalent of saying you already have the hopes and you're still gated. I mean, yeah when you've beaten the RNG then it's no longer a problem, that should be a no-duh, but you skip over it in one instance (MMO's) and then laser in on another (ARPG's or really just PoE). As an end-game raider in several mmo's dating back to vanilla WoW I have first-hand experience of what 2 months of raid lockouts coupled with shit loot can do to a raid's progress. I'd regale you with stories of disenchanting entire sets of felheart in a single night, or how many people rerolled marksman just to use the otherwise junk loot, or how long it took to get our healers ANY drops out of coil, but my point is you're letting your frustration cloud your reasoning. " And this is probably the prime source of frustration. If the axe was a super rare drop and that was that, well w/e. It's a pretty kickass weapon, the bonus to range makes up for any shortcomings it may have compared to top tier rares. That mod should allow it to stand the test of time. But no this is part of the challenge. Pretty relieved I said early on this is NOT a time for me to go for 8/8 for once. " First of all, I haven't really played in weeks. I will probably play in the next 4-month leagues. Second of all, this is a bullshit point. If anything, it would add weight to my feedback. This seems like one of those arguments that you can't really win against. Eg: "I have some problems with a system. I no longer play, though." Response: Your feedback is not valid because you don't play. You're just a bitter hanger-on hater. "I have some problems with this system. I still play, though." Response: Your feedback is not valid because you still play. If you still play, the game must be perfect. |

" It's not a straw man. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man Educate yourself on what a straw man is, first, before you accuse somebody of making one. " Thanks, captain obvious. But other games don't put them behind a ticketing system, let alone allow the tickets to be purchased or traded.... Specifically to avoid the colossal disaster that was Ambush/Invasion. " This doesn't even make sense. " What? " Wow. Shock and awe. You truly have profound gaming experience. "Dating back" to World of Warcraft... lmfao " None of this has anything to do with the atziri system. In WoW, drops were brutal, yes, but you weren't restricted from doing a raid based on tickets that could be purchased or sold. You could do them freely, up to whatever imposed time limit. Rich players couldn't "hoard raids." That was impossible. By design. Anybody who COULD do a raid, had equal access, barring additional accounts. The massive design flaw of the Atziri system was allowing the earliest adopters to hoard all the content (raid tickets). This was inevitable, by design of the system. No other result was possible. It makes you wonder if GGG implemented it knowing full well this would be the result, or if they were naive enough to think there would be a different result. I mean, which is worse? GGG made a mistake this huge out of ignorance? Or GGG deliberately setup a system allowing a few players to get massively rich for no real reason? All it did was underscore the shitty economy. " Wow. Such insight from you. You must know mathematics better than all the other game designers who used timer systems when they could have easily substituted a ticket system. But they didn't. I wonder why? I guess they don't understand math.
Spoiler
I have a Master's degree in Mathematics, by the way.

" I'm sorry you've had a bad experience, but not all of the playerbase are like that. When I was in the same position as you, struggling to kill uber for the first time, another player who I had had very little previous interaction with offered me free service out of pure kindness, allowing me to attempt her in safety without a fear of ripping the Hope. Now I am able to kill her easily myself I'll often offer a free service, simply for fun, but at the same time I totally understand the fees for service. You have to make a massive investment in your character to kill Uber and there's still a risk of dying that nowhere else in the game presents which is a big deal at 95+. The Hopes are frustratingly hard to get but I fail to see how that is a result of ridiculously greedy people. Perhaps you simply need to make more of an effort to interact with the community.
