Weird connection problems

I moved to a village in the north of Canada 2 months ago, and I've been able to play poe (With 700 ping) since I got here. A few times I wasnt able to connect for a few hours to a day. Didnt happen often.

A little over a week ago I haven't been able to connect at all, and if I do, I get 0 ping in town with some or all actors missing. I can move, but grace period doesnt go away, ping stays at 0. If I manage to log in and create a new char, I can connect in twilight strand. No idea why that works.

When I look at my internet connectivity while trying to log in, it doesnt receive or send bytes during this time.

Here is the winmtr thing

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Really annoying to all of a sudden not be able to play
You need to contact your ISP and provide them a copy of the trace for their reference. You're getting some bad latency jumps between these two hops:
| 10.204.11.105 - 1 | 483 | 482 | 18 | 30 | 237 | 26 |
| 10.204.1.1 - 1 | 483 | 482 | 567 | 590 | 797 | 588 |

Notice it goes from an average of 30ms with a "worst" of 237ms to an average of 590ms with a "worst" of 797ms.

It shouldn't do that between 2 nodes within the same network usually. Only the ISP can look into that and possibly resolve it (or at least give a good explanation of why it is happening).
Forgot to mention that the winmtr wasnt used while playing poe, because I can't even log in. Also, my internet is really shitty, but it shouldnt be a problem because I've been playing for 2month since i moved here. I play with 700 ping, because I have really bad internet, but at least I was able to play.

Poe is the only game that doesn't connect to the internet. I get no internet activity while trying to log in. And if I do manage to get in, I can only stay connected if I make a new char and stay in twilight strand.

I really don't know what happened, if i try and log in my main char, I go to town but nothing loads, I have 0 ping and I get d/c after a minute of staying there.

This is my client log of me trying to log in.

Path of Exile is pretty sensitive to your connection. 700ms ping times are pretty hard to work with.

The 0ms Ping in-game is almost always due to a server disconnection where the client doesn't realize it became disconnected. It can no longer send round-trip packets to the server, so the latency always comes back as 0ms because of how the latency on the in-game graph works.

The latency graph in-game is not a standard "ping". It is calculated my timing the round-trip of specific game packets. It sends a packet to the server then waits until the server sends the packet back. If the server has become disconnected, then it cannot send the packet so it shows up as 0.

Do you have any antivirus/firewall/security software on your PC or network that could be interfering with the packets? It is also possible that the high latency is also causing the server to drop you, but the client doesn't realize it became dropped. I'd recommend if you have antivirus/firewall/security stuff to attempt to disable it all and see if you still experience the problem.

If you become disconnected with that 0ms ping again, you will likely have to completely CLOSE Path of Exile and re-open it for it to begin working properly again. You can't just press "login" again in some cases.
I turned them off and it still wont let me connect. I play through steam though, because since I got here I haven't been able to connect to patching server from normal client.

This problem is recent though, which is why I'm so confused. I was able to do atziri runs with 700 ping, I could map fine and everything. Just last week I haven't been able to log in.

Something happened, but I have no clue what it was that messed up my game.

The bytes received and sent in the wireless connection page doesnt move when I try and play poe. This is the problem. Something happened to where the internet registers that poe is trying to connect or something.

Sounds like it's not registering the sent packets because they aren't actually being sent. Something on your PC is blocking the packets before they can be sent. I've heard of similar issues when people's antivirus or firewall were acting up incorrectly. The only way they were able to fix it was to uninstall/reinstall their firewall or in extreme cases, re-install windows without installing the offending software.

If it's not registering as sending packets, it's likely because it isn't... and if that's the case, it has to be something on your PC preventing it.
I have Windows Firewall with Advanced Security. Or at least I think thats it. I found how to uninstall it, but my poor google attempts failed to tell me how to reinstall.
You said that the official poe client cannot connect to patching server.

To circumvent this problem, maybe this can help you, but do this only if your game is already patched to the latest version:

http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/935548/page/2#p7938675

Alternatively, you could edit your hosts file and insure that you can connect to the patching server, you can use these instructions to update your official poe client and play afterwards:

"
If you are desperate to connect to the patch server,d you can add this line to your hosts file:

173.192.25.23 patch101.pathofexile.com

Make a backup of your hosts file first. In my windows XP, the hosts file is at \WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

Edit: also, have you tried using the European Gateway instead of US Gateway? It will add 100 ms to your ping, but it might not crash.

Tried this, didnt work.

I can only update and play through steam. Been playing fine for 2 months until this happened last week. No idea why Im not getting connectivity while playing poe.
Hey toker666,

Did you try Samwell_Tarly's suggestion after moving the content.ggpk file from your Steam Path of Exile folder to your Standalone folder? After you have added an updated content.ggpk file to your desired Path of Exile directory, the '--nopatch' launch parameter may be able to help. This would mean updating on Steam each time a new patch comes out then manually moving it over each time though.

It is possible that this blocking is occuring not on your system, but on your router or by your ISP. To start with, can you please check your Resource Monitor next time you try to run Path of Exile? This can be found with Start > Search 'Resource Monitor', and this can verify that nothing else is using your connection while Path of Exile is attempting to connect.

Next, can you check that your router is not blocking Path of Exile in any way? Be sure to open the following ports on your router:

80
8095
12995
20481
6112
and the range 32768 - 61000

After this, if you can please try connecting to Path of Exile and patch while submitting a WinMTR to 173.192.44.22.

Hopefully the above will give us more information as to what's occuring on your system.
