would GGG sell license for a "pay to win" server?

Once Upon A Time, there was a guy that said "no offense to anyone reading this", then he continued with his story...

I heard GGG has sold rights for a company in i think china, to run a POE version of their own, with changes they can make for their community as long as GGG approves.

I titled this thread as i did because i'm starting to wonder if GGG is in a bind creatively with promises they made that they can't break, as they won't break their word.

Promises like "never pay to win".

I notice lots of mass supporters (going by titles in forums) defending almost everything GGG does, which is their right and maybe part of why they support POE so much with their own cash... that they just really do agree with everything they do.

But, i personally think this version of POE is EXTREMELY held back creatively by GGG's former promises, and the supporters who give them so much money expecting more of the same.

So... i wonder...

would GGG allow people to give them money to have their own version of POE as they have in China (i think it's china)...

but in this case the people purchasing the rights could sell their players mercenaries for cash, pets that fight for cash, an extra skill bar slot for cash, etc etc...

i think of all the things GGG can't do here, or will have to push back years and make free for all, that another group of people on a different game server, could do easily and for cash do them very quickly.

They could give GGG royalties on everything made, and in turn GGG could make the supporters in original POE lots and lots of new glow in the dark slippers or whatever it is you want this week.

Or better yet, GGG should do it incognito and just pretend they licensed it to other people, and start making all the fun cash for advantages stuff on the new POE version out there, but keep all the profit for themselves.

Anyway, i like Russia these days so please look to Russian investors for a new style of POE licensed out to other developers, if you run with this.

The End.

Eh?

Sorry, I'm having trouble seeing this rant as anything more than 'more of the same' from your other posts regarding the state of the game, most if not all of which seem bent on redefining GGG's idea of 'pay to win' for them, which is probably never going to happen.

GGG should never pay to win. End of story. I'd rather donate on my own will then have to pay in any way.
They already sold that license to Garena.
No.
Thanks for all the fish!
I supported GGG to get more of the same? Huh? What? I am constantly hounding GGG to change things for the better. How is that asking for more of the same?!

i'll continue to support GGG as long as the stick to their guns and keep pay to win out of the game.
That way i'm not forced to.
Pay for additional content.
not have more than 2 character slots and not feel forced to pay for more.
not have a much smaller stash/inventory forcing me to pay for more
not have consumable items like exp pots or crafting boosts

Basically i don't want the game gimped by greed and those that want p2w can quit all they like...ggg know where their money comes from and why there are people willing to spend thousands on it.

i understand and accept why so many diehard fans of "POE as is" want what you're wanting.

Why i asked about the game licensed out to another dev group, as they did with the china/wherever people (i forget the details).

POE, is not the only POE... GGG licensed it out to others to have their own spin on it. Everything GGG approves for them to do, they get to do, on their own game. Separate from the POE we all play on.

I don't see a problem if it's an entirely different run POE, somewhere else, different website, run by others, new content by others, but where they sell things that people like me want. AKA cash for usable things.

it's not like it'd be the first game where hundreds of thousands of people are willing to pay for such items. Even if you don't want them on this particular GGG run POE.

I'd go there in a heartbeat to play with paid for mercs, attack pets, etc etc, and GGG would get royalties.

what i really don't get is how even THAT is somehow bad to so many people.

if there's a market for it, why care if there's another POE out there that does things in a way you don't like?

i'm really... really... really not grasping the opposition to this at all.
Are you really that desperate to buy upgrades for your character with real money?

If you aren't grasping the opposition then you aren't grasping what the core values of GGG as a company and the founders are all about.
