Taking it to the extremes? Skyrim is closer to comparison than PoE is. Going from DS2 to PoE is extreme.
Just thinking it the same thing is ridiculous =/

The prime factor is desync. There is hardly any 'action' mechanics in PoE when anything that is implemented can be screwed up by desync. Telegraphed attacks are either slow, like Vaal smash and touch of god; or speedy enough to cause desync, like probably Atziri's flameblasts. Either way, desync can prevent skill from having any effect. I solo'ed D3's inferno Belial with a glass cannon demon hunter but I don't think the same could apply to PoE.

Edit: I haven't played DSII (only one) but generally of those action hack and slash's can be beaten by pure skill. Devil may cry's Heaven or hell mode makes it so you die in one hit . You cannot play PoE without a health buffer because desync will get you hit at least once. And even if you had no desync, the sheer amount of bullet-hell like stuff that is thrown at you makes it very difficult to avoid, and of course, you have the stuff you cannot avoid at all.

To get a little off topic here.

Doesn't Pacman always eat bigger number though, never understood why the arrow pointing means the other ones better I always thought it was the other way around like the math problems done in elementary school.

I consider Dark Souls a skill based game. PoE is completely different to me, I would call it more knowledge based with a large emphasis on playtime and grinding. Dark Souls takes far more timing, patience, and twitch responses While PoE is more about gear.
