10 Reasons Why Dark Souls 2 > POE

Thankfully Mazul seems to 'get' where I am coming from, the comments about mortal kombat, cod & skyrim are people taking it to extremes.

I'll explain where I am coming from one more time, I don't mean that the games are exactly the same, I am trying to highligh the premise that DS2's approach to character development flies in the face of what we are told 'works' withing the kill for loot ARPG genre, i.e. The "you have to multiple layers of RNG otherwise everyone will quit" quotes.

I do believe that character development via stats & gear is a development issue shared by both games almost identically but I believe DS' approach is not only more rewarding to the player but defies the common logic you hear about characters obtaining upgrades.

For the most layman out there...I think DS2's way of developing your character via stats & gear with a splash of RNG is a better approach than POE's RNG-tastic approach.

logic and reason, don't work on people utterly convinced GGG bring the word of god, all their design and implementation decisions are holy, and there was no such thing as "Action Role-playing Game" before Path Of Exile existed, nor will there be after it.
same goes for RPG, Hack&Slash, Dungeon Crawl and any other game involving character development.

arguing with them, achieves nothing but potentially driving you insane.

10 reasons why apples > oranges.

1. no citric acid.
2. less a'peeling. ( no load times)
3. crunchy bite.
4. its green, how awesome is that.
5. blah blah blah
6. I can find apples in self found league.
7. Death Gods love apples.
8. Unlike oranges, concentrate isn't a big deal.
9. Unlike half an orange, apples can look'a'round.
10. APPLES.

Play DS2 for a year or two... then come back and tell us how much better is was. You're comparing something that's new and shiny to something you've devoted at least a year to. Even if you turn out to be right, it will be win/win because we wont have had to put up with you for a year.

In general, if I don't comment on part of an [Removed by Support] post, that's because his post quality is normally utter crap and it was both wrong and boring to talk about.

I actually think this is a solid point. In a cross-genre sort of way, so all you "apples and oranges" folks actually don't have a good counter; this is a general best practice for computer games in general, so genre is irrelevant. If you retitled this thread "the one reason why DS2 beats PoE hands down" and cut all the unnecessary crap, I'd actually be able to fully respect your opinion, even though I still love PoE.

Top lel. As if these are even different things in a Dark Souls game; everything's functionally single-target.
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

There are actually many AOE weapons/spells in DS & particularly in DS2. Many more AOE spells have been added but for the most part AOE comes in the form of swing arc of your weapon. So I guess I'm not the only on talking utter crap.

The main difference: one requires skill, the other doesn't.
