Is this a dev quote?

I find this hilarious because the problem isn't bright cartoony RPGs, but WoW styled "let's make wannabe Tolkien themed rainbow vomit" crap- The bad ones, basically.

Truth be told, that stuff is ruining things for both sides. There's not enough gritty, brutal, metal as hell Diablo style RPGs out there, but I also long for the return off stuff like Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana. Everything is trying so hard to be WoW for god knows what reason, we don't get enough of anything else.

For Poe, I would much rather dark, gritty cosmetics... definitely.

However, the beauty of something like wow-graphics is that its ageless. Wow has been going for almost 10yrs now (i think?!) and i played from Vanilla (I stopped when about a month into the WOTL expansion because of game direction). When i see the game now, it still looks like it could have come out recently. Thats the sweet spot that a lot of developers look for.

On a side note: Wow is receiving its first full-character model renovations when the next expansion comes out. Thats almost 10years they havent had to play around too much with their core models. Thats a pretty big success.
Just for try for see and for know -2013!

ridiculous lol

Indeed. But the wings are the least ridiculous thing in that image. Hint: Phoenix baby bird carrying a banner, and exploding-lightsaber weapon effect.
a bit too colorful and "fancy"

EDIT: Less pompous stuff and more badass stuff!

But is that because its graphics were so good? Or just because everyone else everyone else has been so worried about copying it because it was so successful and no one has tried to come up with anything better since?
