Leveling fast = you get more currency, staying alive = you get more currency. Watch his stream some more and youll see it all. Hes just a legit player who puts in the hours, the knowledge and keeps his cool.

I have mixed feelings about snapshotting. 90% of players with a decent build used to snapshot auras at the start of play before they destroyed that mechanic. Granted snapshotting your tree is like next level, but the principal is the same. Imo theres nothing wrong with it 'morally' if you like, for want of a better word. Exploit? the whole point in a game like this is that a lot of what goes on was not intended, its intended than unintended things are found, thats part of the fun and challenge of the game. It just becomes an exploit when instead of finding something dogshit or mediocre that wasnt intended you find something op that wasnt intended, so op that its virtually game breaking. That is our job as players, to use knowledge to break the game, the more you break it the better you are at your job.

Snapshotting should be fixed, but not because its immoral, not because it is an invalid way to play the game, its as legit as it comes imo, it should be fixed because it isnt fun and its op. Constantly switching gems and passives is boring as fuck. I loved the old aura snapshotting as a mechanic with malikis etc, but it was a drag to have to do it. As developers you dont want people to feel they HAVE to do something that isnt fun, and its op and we dont want the game balanced around an unfun mechanic. But thats all it is imo, overpowered and not fun, its as legit a tactic in the game right now as anything else.

i think the guy has proven himself consistently to be the #1 PoE player

pretty much.

What he did was awesome, he thought it out, looked at what was possible, geared it, they had their tactics down for every stage. The amount of thought that went into it, a 2 month push to achieve what he did that involved overcoming invasion league while a lot of other streams pussied out, beasting the map game, the trade game, the leveling game, the build game, the gear game, he went all out and once again was the guy holding the prize at the end. It was great for PoE to see so much put into the drive to reach a goal in the game.

For too long the game was about 'Look at me, I trade and exalt maps and I faceroll shrines and shipyards that ANYONE could beat with a half decent build and average gear, but I sit here in my kaoms taking no risks feeling like a pro because I can access piss easy content no one else can'. Now theres an actual challenge, something viciously hard to overcome that takes some serious balls to beat on hardcore, and surprise surprise its HvR there beasting it while the self proclaimed pros of hardcore are doing what? Harthstone? D3? ESO?

Much respect to HvR.

As for selling kills, thats totally in the spirit of the game. It may have been against the spirit of the competition for hvr and mors to sell kills, but its absolutely the spirit of PoE to do it. There was a guy who knew about the GCP + lv20 gem recipe for what? A year before the rest of us found out? He was the guy who got in that position, and it was up to him to decide to share the info, to keep it secret, to use it to gain advantage, thats the pvp spirit of PoE I feel and selling the kills was just another way to take your knowledge and skills and use it to get ahead. Just like snapshotting, absolutely valid, absolutely in the spirit of the game, should the devs fix it so that neither can ever happen again? Yes absolutely, thats the devs job, until they fix it its our job to exploit the shit out of everything possible to get ahead.

It's not gonna get you 2 mirrors, 3 soul takers, a wind ripper, a 6l shav, a kaom heart in a dead league on top of finding the time to level to 92 and 95 and kill aztiri 50 times. He's not just better than everyone else, something is wrong here, does he not have any competition?

Pretty sure when he was the first 100, he said he was assisted by people who boosted him by donating/clearing maps and the like. He was running with more than a few known RMT/d2jspers, IIRC. It's basically a 'who you know' kinda deal. Not saying it isn't an accomplishment, but it's not so much an individual accomplishment. D2 was the same way, really.
No. Calm down. Learn to enjoy losing.
- the first guys to reach 100 in standard were all helped by RMT ppl or were RMT ppl themselves.
- guys to reach 100 in Nemesis were using snapshotting exploit even worse than current one.
- atziri killers are all snapshotters.

such skill much wow.
i use a secret account because i am a politician that doesnt want the NSA to know i play poe.
Havoc is truly a Lance Amstrong of PoE haha, he's better at effortless attention gain than athene. I wonder how well does it work for his stream views.
Be ready. You're not paranoid, you're PREPARED.

I quit this game every few months and so should you to continue playing it in the future.

The device is believed to have been dropped
oh man been using surgeon flasks on my build for over 7 months now....

imma gonna need to reroll now right? x)

lel

Gz btw, everything has been said in this thread already.

Congratz to you HvC, but shit player mentality you got.

(aka first 100 nemesis abuse/selling atziri challenge/sacrificing honor for glory)

Peace and enjoy the glory, it will fade out. Honor never fades imo.

And thats no jello :), just my humble observation and my own experience from playing.

I must be old school or something to enjoy something like honor more then glory.

Gz on the gloves, sweet drop you got.

well obviously it does get you those things, and hes got them to prove it, and streamed the whole thing. He doesnt have much competition, hardcore was basically dominated by people playing easymode builds, running easymode maps, hiding behind trade gates pretending they had some sort of game chops.

True. He was playing with aimless gun, an alpha tester player who had a 100k dps freeze pulser. Anyone who played with that guy got 'carried' because he just 1 shot rares in a 6 man party. Whats he gonna do? Refuse to play with his friend because his build is op? The accusations of rmt use by some people he mapped with probably happened, I think a lot of people were rmting back then because the map system was completely fucked and GGG refused to listen to people telling them we dont want to run lvl90 chars in lvl67 maps, sort your game out.

People who were around that map group wrote an anonymous letter to GGG on the forums saying we dont want to rmt, we dont want to play with people who rmt, but we need 4 chisels and 30 chaos for every single map we run otherwise we have to quit the game, please sort your fucking game out for the love of god dont make us go back to diablo 3. I never used rmt, thats why my lvl89 marauder at that time was grinding docks because I couldnt find 1 single map, 1 bloody map and i refused to rmt or sell my gear to buy maps. 1000 hours played on a char that is still to this day lvl89, it was a joke, a complete joke and 100% GGGs fault for designing an RMT trap game where spending real money/forum gold on orbs was virtually required to regularly access content that provided any challenge or xp, which is the only thing worth loading the game for.

At the end of the day the only people who could have caught up with him xp wise were the people in his group who were feeding him maps and 'carrying' him, so its not like he stole someone elses glory. He hit level 100 by soloing the hardest boss in the game with 6 player life, I saw him clear many maps solo, its not like he needed to be carried, he was just friends with a guy who had a stupidly powerful build. It was always going to be HvR, with or without knowing people who used rmt or had powerful builds. Kripp was playing with people who used bots to generate their wealth back then, doesnt take away anything he achieved, not that he ever achieved anything on the scale HvR has.

Very little of this game is skill, its game knowledge and time put in, thats what makes a good player. There is no game abuse, thats a retarded concept, theres just people who use average mechanics to do average things and people who use extreme mechanics to do extreme things. If its so easy to exploit the game to win then why is it always HvR time and time again? Wheres all the haters world first achievements? Bad players, poor losers, teenage ego driven mentalities, straight up.

You want super game skills go watch fatal1ty play quake 3, youre in the wrong game genre, this is a genre of patience, knowledge and time investment. Its like chess, you dont win by having better hand/eye co-ordiantion or by running faster than the next guy. A 4 year old can move a piece from 1 square to another, that doesnt take away anything from grand master chess players who can play and win 30 games at the same time and will beat you all day every day.

While I do agree with your overall assessment, saying you agree that he was with people that were RMT does take away the entire merit of being first to 100.

All things aside, he does a great job at breaking the game. Which is a good thing. However, associating with people who are known jsp/RMT users is not.
