This is simply not true. Yes, there will be those who RMT to get that amount of wealth. But it is absolutely possible to pull at least 2 ex per hour by farming Dominus efficiently. I am currently doing about 4 ex per hour in low level maps (using a twist). This puts 500 ex at around 125 to 200 hours of farming. A lot of work, but definitely doable.
Regarding those that sell those gloves at 500 ex: its not greed, it is economy 101. They simply charge what others are willing to pay. Very few players would do otherwhise if they were in the same position. Unless one prooves that one is willing to sell big ticket items (say a mirror or two) for, say, half the market value themselves I call hypocrite on this one.
4 Exalted Orbs per hour farming Dominus and low maps, you say?
man I've been playing for over 1700 hours and my total amount of Exalts ever, is 6. plus I have maybe a couple more in lower currency on all leagues combined, and maybe 20-30 Exalts more worth of gear - mostly legacy, and only because I've been playing since the start of Open Beta - according to what I think Standard League rates are.
not sure though, because Economy isn't my thing in Path Of Exile.
so yeah, I may be an absolutely horrible trader, and the man with the single worst RNG (relative to time played) currently playing this game - but if you tell me people who can pay 500 fucking hundred Exalts for one set of gloves actually farmed for their "wealth", you are lying. pure and simple.
I know some people who are "rich" and ranked high up on the ladder. heck I used to party and map with some of them.
they are not "afraid" of the economy the way I am, and are simply amazing players in terms of pure playing skills and character building - and they are no where near what you are claiming.
IF your goal (you might have other goals) is to make the maxmimum exa/hour then you are not doing it right if your total wealth is around 100 ex after 1700 hours played. This is not meant as an insult.
2ex per hour is widely acknowledged to be doable with a good dominus team. If you had spent your 1700 hours efficiently (no need to do that if that is no fun to you) then that would put you at above 3k ex wealth - you would have no problem whatsoever to get those gloves. To be honest i find farming dominus extremely boring.
I am doing 4ex/hour in standard in low level maps. I am willing to explain in detail how to do that. However, that would increase competition for me and I would most likely no longer be able to sustain 4ex/hour. So, my offer is as follows: if you guys get me 500 ex, then I can stop farming and buy the stuff I need and I no longer care whether others are doing the same. I would then post a detailed description of how I get to 4ex/hour. It is not a scam or any form of cheat/exploit, it does nor requite flipping or taking advantage of other players and it does not require multiboxing.
Finally, getting rich in this game does not require you to be an amazing player (in terms of, e.g. reflexes). It requires a solid strategy to make currency. I would consider myself mediocre at the former but pretty good at the latter.
Super fast clear speed, legacy mf gear, low wealth investment map-cost-wise (that's why not too high level map recommended because in lv77 maps you will on average lose wealth mapwise).
Edit: to increase your wealthgain, you should of course flip items while you do the maps.

well its standard so its kind of hard to translate that into the current league's equivalent.
What I mean by that is that if the method relies on some recipies and then currency conversions then the huge difference in ratios would make the end result different as well.
edit. Completely forgot how easy it is to faceroll low maps on standard while in full legacy IIQ/IIR gear so that there are a lot more rare drops for recipies etc.

I have tried that (minus flipping) with almost perfect gear and got to about 2 ex/hour. Very similar to dominus farming but way more fun. This would not give me 4 ex/hour, though.
This situation is ludicrous. For those that don't know the elitist's have always cornered the market to manipulate prices on certain things...and these uber items magnify this problem as there are very few available and those who have them are insanely rich and have the power to literally b/o every one available if they choose, just to flip it to some other sucker.
Well I contest this and I invite everyone else to with me.
Just now I offer 2 mirror's (300exalts) for one of these and I don't even get a polite "no thank you" I get the 'silent I don't talk to your kind' reply... Sorry but 300exalts is more than generous--I swear it's like theyre flipping their orbs for money how many hundreds exalts do these people need? someone should look into this-- it's like D3 all over again.
Anyways, I hope everyone else can see through this and don't succumb to this inflated mononpoly.
It's sorta like the classic car industry. Some guy has a million $+ car and someone offers him 10's of millions for it. His reply = no reply because he doesn't know you.
Basically he doesn't need the money and if you want to do business, YOU'LL have to find out what he wants.... That takes SKILL ;) Maybe it's an elite type of skill?
I'm Glad someone Necro'd this thread cause I didn't want to be the one to do it :)
I bought them awhile ago from Ventor I didn't want to say but I paid 2 mirrors for it and they've already dropped 1/2 price.
Looks like Ventor got the last laugh, but I still laugh at everyone who refused my double-price offer ;D
